The sunset above the stately home in the middle of the countryside. The colours of gold and pink swirled the sky like one of those beautifully crafted paintings you see hung up in an art gallery in the middle of London. Theo was yet to return from his business meetings, I was hiding in my room from my mother's tongue. She had already scolded me for spending half of my day in the study, rewriting countless letters to Ominis.
Truly, I struggled writing onto the paper, conveying my true emotions and thoughts to paper, seemed to be foreign. I finally sent one off to him, and praying he would attend the ball mother was throwing in three days time. The Gaunt family was an incredible alliance to have, my mother would say, everything about this ball was to comfort the Gaunts, from their favourite wines, to favourite desserts.
My mother so wanted the approval of the Gaunts, so much, that she wanted me to spending the summer squeezing into this tiny corset to impress them, I think she is hoping it ends in an alliance with them. However, I bid not.
"Eira!" My mother's voice echoed from the bottom of the staircase. I tightly shut my eyes, before exhaling deeply.
"Yes mother?" I responded with the perfect soft tone.
"Come hither! I shall need your imput." She snapped.
"Of course." I walked away from my desk, down to my mother. It seemed this summer was never ending.
