Chapter 12

Y/n's POV:

I open my eyes to find JJ sitting on my bed.

"Morning beautiful." he says,

"How long have you been there?" I ask, slightly jumping.

"Calm down, I've only been here for like two seconds," he says and we giggle. "Y/n, you know how you called me your best friend last night?" he asks,

"I meant it Jayj." I say,

"Oh." he says sadly,

"What?" I ask,

"Nothing." he lies,

"JJ." I press, "You can tell me." 

"Fine." he says, "I love you y/n. From the moment I first saw you, I thought you were gorgeous, then I hated you, and then I got to know you. Now here I am, telling you how I love you. I get it if you only see me as a friend, or as you said a best friend but I tho-" I cut him off by pressing my lips to his. I have the strangest want and need for this. I have been craving it ever since I pulled away last night.

Something's off. This just doesn't feel right. It feels so much different from last night. There's no passion, no need.

I open my eyes again. JJ's gone. It was all a dream. Mom always told me that when you dream, you're dreaming of something you desire. I don't know what to think. I love JJ, as a friend. Nothing more. Right?

...

I couldn't sleep again after... that. It was so... I can't explain it. It felt so right, but so wrong all at once. I get myself dressed in a gray tank top and a denim skirt. I brush my hair and head downstairs for breakfast. I see Sarah and JJ chatting at the breakfast bar with bowls of cereal. I grab a box of Frosted Flakes from the pantry and milk from the fridge. I haven't had Frosted Flakes in years. Damn it's better than I remember.

No matter how good this cereal is I can't shake my dream from my thoughts. I stare at a spot on the counter.

"Y/n! Hello, Earth to y/n!" Sarah calls out,

"Huh? What did you say?" I ask, looking up,

"Y/n are you ok? I've been calling out your name for like two minutes now?" she asks,

"Yeah I'm fine, what's up?" I ask, lying.

"Ok. Well, we were thinking of going to The Wreck to see Kie cause her parents are making her help out today so we were gonna go there for lunch." she tells us,

"Ok sounds good." I say. Knowing my new friends, we're probably gonna go swimming somewhere so I may as well put a bikini on before we go. I finish my breakfast before putting my bowl and spoon in the dishwasher and making my way to the stairs.

"You've been ignoring me all morning." JJ says, gently grabbing my wrist.

"I- uh- sorry. I'm just a little shaken up, I had a weird dream." I admit,

"Well do you wanna talk about it?" he asks. Of course he asks that.

"No uhm. I'll be fine. I should get some fresh air." I say walking to the door.

"I don't believe you." he says,

"What?" I ask,

"I think that you want to talk about it." he says, grabbing my hand and pulling me to him.

"JJ, I can't." I whisper.

"Ok." he says, wrapping his arms around me, "I won't force you." he whispers. He's changed so much in literally two days. On my first day here he was begging me to tell him shit, then he's making me laugh, now he's being super serious and sweet. I don't get it.
