“Good morning Sabrina” I smiled as my shorter friend climbed down from her bunk.

“Morning, why are you up so early?”

“I love drawing the sun rising and it is only 6:45 that’s not that early”

“Let’s see you’re drawing” Sabrina wondered over while rubbing her eyes. I showed her my notebook with my latest drawing. It was of the sun rising over the lake, I hadn’t finished colouring it in yet but I think it turned out pretty well.

“Oh my god! Iris you are amazing!” Sabrina squealed. Raven groaned as she rolled over in her bed. I was guessing that I was the only morning person in my dorm. Sabrina giggled and sat down next to me.

“Shh…thanks” I whispered as I looked back to the window. It felt weird waking up and not seeing Zuko at my feet. Zuko was my golden retriever which I have had forever. Well nearly forever, you see my aunty and uncle thought that I needed someone else in my life that was like a brother or sister. They thought a pet would be something that I could talk to and take responsibility for. Zuko was named after a character of a TV show that my cousin had shown me when I was little. Zuko was a misunderstood guy who just wanted his father to love him. I really liked his character and the name. Zuko is now about eight years old now. He is still as energetic as ever though! We have a morning walk everyday, I wonder if Zuko is barking at my aunty and uncle to take him for a walk?

For breakfast I had waffles with ice-cream and chocolate sauce. It was fantastic! I never thought that I would think anything was fantastic in the place but there you go. Sabrina, Raven and Georgia thought I was crazy for eating this sort of thing for breakfast. They all had bowels of cereal and toast, how boring! Why not enjoy the junk food while you can?

“You are crazy today! Did something happen with Blade that made you think differently about this place?” Raven asked.

“What! No-way Blade is still a jerk and I still don’t want to be here but my aunty sent me this letter about trying to enjoy myself and so I am. Aren’t you guys looking forward to seeing what our first task is?”

“I bet it is something to do with walking” Raven joined in the conversation.

“Great…exercise” Georgia  mumbled. I laughed at her un-enthusiasm.

“Good morning ladies how are you this fine day?” a familiar voice said from behind me. I sighed as I turned around to see Blade smiling at me. Did he always just find me in the crowd at the dining table and walk over? It felt just like yesterday. Except this time I didn’t walk off, I just continued to eat my food.

“Well if it isn’t the tramp from yesterday” Alison glared as she walked over to us. I rolled my eyes at her comment; she didn’t even deserve a reply.

“Aww and your friends with Raven” Alison smiled as she looked to see Raven biting her toast.

“Yeah and what of it?” I snapped back. This made Raven look up in surprise.

“Just to let you know…Raven is very popular and it is nice to see another loser to hang out with her” Alison whispered to me. It wasn’t really a whisper though, she had meant for Raven to hear it and she had.

“Alison!”

I had opened my mouth to say the exact same thing but it wasn’t me who yelled her name in frustration. I turned to see Sabrina standing up with her hands firmly down on the table from hitting it. I smiled at Sabrina. The thing that was annoying me though was the fact that Blade was just standing there watching us. Did he think it was funny? Like we were his entertainment or something?
