After leaving the jail Elena went home quickly, as if she was  avoiding Nini afterward for some reason as she walked into her own front door. "Nini? That you?" Nini formed a quick, tight lipped smile at her brother but didn't say much, removing her jacket and hanging it up before heading towards the stairs. "Hey, wait a second."

She had placed her foot on the first stair when Damon appeared infront of her, causing her to stop even though she could've went straight through him. "Elena told me about Lexi and she said something happened with Stefan. Are you ok?"

"Stay like this. Don't let anything drag you back." Lexis words echoed in her mind and she nodded slightly.

"Yeah, just processing that she's gone."

"And Stefan?"

"You're worthless and quite frankly you haven't done any of us any good. He realized  you weren't worth keeping around, he wanted you gone. He was sick of having to save you."

"His emotions are off, nothing he says can hurt me." She lied through her teeth even though it was no good, Damon wasn't stupid and knew her to well. Carefully, Damon reached out a hand toward his sister, palm up.

"Can I see?" She eyed his hand for a moment, knowing that she most definitely did not want him to see but at the same time he would be suspicious if she denied him access to Stefan's words.

"Quickly, I don't want to relive it." Damon nodded and took her hand, both siblings closing their eyes as Nini quickly shared some of her thoughts, though cutting it short just before the subject of Damon came up.

Damon snarled, his eyes darkening. "I'm going to kill him. I'm actually going to shove a stake through our brothers heart."

"Don't. I'm serious, Damon." She grabbed his arm as he went for the door, seemed fully prepared to do as he said. "Like I said, he can't hurt me now. Honestly, I'm just exhausted." Damon nodded and switched their grip, taking her arm before she could leave for the stairs.

"Hey, you know we need you, right? Without you things could've gone so wrong up until now. You are important, Neen. We all need you. Remember that, alright?"

"Yeah, thanks Damon." Nini hugged him briefly and immediately Damon had his arms wrapped around her. "Goodnight, Brother." Even though it was killing her, she didn't ask about what Stefan had said, about what happened to Lexi.

Maybe it was because she was already too tired, or maybe it was because she was afraid of the truth, but either way she didn't mention it.

Nini climbed under the covers and was about to drift off to sleep when she heard the front door shut, footsteps entering the house.

"What are you doing here, Elena? It's late." Nini listened carefully. Elena had went home hours ago, what was she doing back now?

"Did you tell her, Damon?"

"Tell her what, exactly?" Damon grumbled lazily and Nini could hear the sound of liquid being poured into a glass.

"Don't do that, not now. She knows Lexi is dead, and Stefan pointed it at you. Before we left the cell he said to ask you about it." When Damon didn't respond Elena huffed. "Did she not mention it?"

"Clearly not, Elena. And no, I didn't tell her. Because she was tired and Stefan already ripped into her, she doesn't need to know about that now." Nini's chest tightened, she wanted to stop listening, to let it go and go to sleep and avoid what she was beginning to see this conversation go to but she couldn't.
