"What do you get up to in this big house all alone anyway? I've never taken you as one to stay by yourself." Nini shrugged and began to walk out of Stefan's room, Elijah following behind.

"Your right, I hate being alone all the time, it drives me nuts. But my brothers are so protective that they will just attempt to leave me here if anything gets even slightly dangerous so I've gotten somewhat used to it. It was easy the first months I was away from you, I missed your company." Nini admitted and entered the completely disorganized library.

"Looks like you've been keeping busy." Elijah raised an eyebrow at the chaos and Nini laughed lightly.

"Yeah, I've been looking for something, a journal I left here in 1984, but I love this room so much that I easily open a book and get lost in it. Next thing I know hours have flown by and I'm practically starving." Elijah picked up a book he didn't recognize that was sitting on top of a stack and Nini nearly laughed at his expression as he opened it and read a random page.

"I more read that one for laughs. The author has written and entire series but apparently she doesn't realize we actually exist. She has the facts all wrong."

"You're beautiful," Elijah reads from the page, looking very concerned, "says Bella as she observes his sparkling, diamond body." Nini grinned and Elijah looked up from the page. "Nini I thought I introduced you to better literature throughout the decades." Nini laughed and took the book from his hands, setting it back on the desk.

"Like I said, I read Twilight to make fun of it. Damon thinks it's ridiculous and I haven't shown Stefan yet. There are much better things here, although I wouldn't be surprised if you've read many of them." Nini lifted another book from one of her many stacks and Elijah watched as she carefully turned to her page, the muscles in her face settling as her eyes ran across the words.

Elijah had a feeling for this girl that he could not even describe, a need to protect her at all costs and to always see her full of joy, to make sure she was never hurting and that she had everything she wanted in life. A need to make sure he could provide those things to her.

"You know, I've always envied the girls in books." Nini muttered mindlessly as she turned the page.

"And why's that?"

"They have everything, even if they don't see it. The most amazing life, full of adventure and mystery. They're described as beautiful, as someone who anyone would kill to be. They have friends, family, someone who loves them."

"I thought it was quite clear that your brothers love you." Elijah pointed out and Nini nodded.

"Yes, I know they do and I'm grateful for it, but that's not what I mean. I want a different kind of love, these girls have men who love them so much that they would die for her, that's the kind of love I want. I want the kind of love that consumes you, full of passion, and adventure. Hell, I already have enough danger in my life. These girls have all of it, then they just throw it away like it's nothing."

"I refuse to believe you have never found love, Miss. Salvatore." Nini smiled softly and shrugged.

"Maybe I have, but it wasn't the right kind. It was child's love, I want the real thing. I want a man to look at me and love me and tell me I'm beautiful as my brother does Elena. I'm a hundred and sixty years old, Elijah, as hopeless as it sounds I've begun to believe I may never find it."

"And how do you know someone doesn't love you as you describe? How do you know that no man has ever loved you above every other?" Elijah went and took the book from her hands, reading the aged cover. "Pride and Prejudice"
