You see, as our souls come here (to Earth) with the purpose of learning our lessons and becoming closer to our Higher self, you must understand what you truly want, what you truly need, and what is truly important to you. If the desire isn't truly yours, if it's influenced by someone or something from the external world, you shouldn't pursue it. Your mind will tell you one thing, but it's quite different when your soul starts whispering.
Our mission, as human beings, is to listen to the voice of our soul and recognize its signals, this is the only way we will learn our lessons and attain our goals. To hear the voice of our soul, we need to be mindful and conscious. And to stop trying to break into the wrong doors!
