July 2nd, 5:22PMKeith and Lance sat on the motorcycle a full minute, simply staring at the mansion before them. Once rich and elegant, now it seemed almost foreboding. They both took their time sliding off the bike.
"So..."
Lance said."So."
Keith turned to face Lance, and Lance slowly tore his gaze off of the looming mansion, to look at Keith.
"Lance, how honest do you want to be here?""Uh, what do you mean?"
"I mean about us."
"You're leaving it up to me?"
Keith shrugged, and turned his head back to the mansion. "I...don't really care if they know now. Either they love me, all of me, or they don't. So, it's up to you."
"Oh, oh...um. Maybe, we keep it on the back burner? Atleast for now. Get a lay of the land? Scout the bushes? See how hungry the dingos are? Check the tr-"
Keith held up a hand.
"Okay, I get it. We'll stick with the old story. But you did kinda out us to Shiro. Maybe he didn't get the hint, he's pretty dense, but..."Lance rubbed the back of his neck.
"Oh right. Yeah, I don't think I've even yelled like that before. My throat hurt for like an hour."Keith chuckled.
"It was odd seeing you so feisty. It was kinda hot."Lance raised an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah?"Keith nodded, and moved towards Lance.
"Oh yeah."Lance realized they were right in front of the Shirogane home, but he didn't care, in fact, he kinda liked it. He was getting in one last kiss before the hurricane hit. And so he did. He and Keith shared their lips one last time before they turned to the house.
Kissing Keith in front of the home felt, wrong, and so right. He almost did it again.
Then Keith took a few steps towards the slumbering beast.
Lance's feet felt heavy, as if he were wearing cement shoes. He knew what waited within, and now felt the fear of what was about to happen.'Something is going to change after this.'
Lance thought. He didn't know what, but he knew this conversation would change things, hopefully for the better.
'But probably not...'Keith noticed the lack of trailing footsteps, and turned to look back at Lance. Lance was staring at the house, that same distant look in his eyes that Keith had seen a few times.
Keith quickly stepped back to Lance, and stood between him, and his view of the house. He put a hand on Lance's shoulder.
"You sure you wanna do this?"Lance's gaze flickered to Keith, not blank anymore, but tired.
"Well, we can't back out now."
Lance shrugged."Yes we can, Lance. We can leave at any moment. Remember what we discussed?"
Keith asked.Lance took a deep breath, and nodded his head. Straighting and clenching his fingers.
"Yeah, I remember. If I want to leave, we both do, if you want to leave, we both do."Keith nodded, and squeezed Lance's shoulder. "Exactly. We aren't trapped here. We leave whenever we want. Right?"
"Right."
"Let's go then."
Keith led the way, through the driveway, up the stairs, to the front door. Keith didn't knock. Some habits die hard. Instead he walked right in. Lance immediately began to take off his shoes. Old habits die hard. But Keith stopped him.
"Who knows how quickly we'll be wanting to leave. Keep them on."
Keith said in his normal voice, not even trying to be subtle, or quiet. His words echoing through the walls. Old habits.
