"Okay, what do we name her?"
Lance asked, as the cat crawled over in in the passenger seat, when Keith came to a stop light, he looked over at Lance. Lance was utterly captivated by the cat. Keith still didn't get it. The cat was cute, and affectionate, but just a cat. Thankfully it was nothing like the cat which Keith had spent years shooing off from his birds. This cat seemed completely content and comfortable in the confines of the truck.

One moment she climbed over the back seats to climb on Lance, the next she was curled up in her bed, or finding tunnels and oaths inside the mountain of luggages and packed camping gear in the back of the truck.

Even though she would occasionally climb in Keith, or try to curled behind the steering wheel, Keith didn't regret it. Not when he saw how Lances face practically lit up whenever he looked at the cat, or Keith. Eyes turning from adoration and affectionate, to...that look. The look Lance gave Keith. As if Keith were some work of art. Lance's eyes would run over Keith's cheeks and eyes, and hair. Taking in, and memorizing the sight. All with a smile on his lips, or a smile soon to come.

And Keith was glad Lance finally had something to occupy him besides plants and hamsters. Now Lance didn't have a moment to drop that smile, as his sight was either met with Keith, or a cat. And Keith didn't hate the cat, he even liked it a little.
But still, Keith missed his bird.

"Keith?"
Lance asked, cocking his head as Keith stared at his chest without speaking. Keith shut his mouth and quickly looked up.

"Huh? Sorry, what did you say?"

"The light turned green. What's got you so distracted. I mean, I know what's got me distracted, but I don't think kitty has used her charms on you yet."

Keith started the truck forward again, driving through the city in the hopes of finding a place to eat.
"I was just thinking about my bird."

Lance was quiet for a moment.
"We could...get a bird."

"Get a bird? What?"

"Like, buy one."

Keith glanced over at him.
"You can do that?"

Lance chuckled as the cat crawled up on his shoulder, and hopped over the seat into the back. "Yeah, you can buy birds."

"As pets?"

"You didn't know that? A lot of people have birds."

Surprised and confused by this news, Keith decided to simply speak the first question that came to his mind.
"How the fuck do you walk it?"

Lance burst out in laughter, leaning forward in his seat, then wiped a fake tear from his eye once he composed himself.
"Did you just ask how you walk a bird?!?

Keith rolled his eyes.
"That's not- You know what I mean. It's a bird, it flies. How do you keep a flying pet, in a house."

"Are you saying we live in a house?"
Lance asked with a raised eyebrow, and a grin.

"Apartment. How do you have a bird, in an apartment."

"Well, you get one that doesn't fly a lot. Like a big bird."

"What, a fucking duck?"

"No, stupid. A...parrot, or...one of the other ones like that. You can get a cage for them to sleep in."

Keith saw a small diner around the next turn, and pulled them into it's parking lot, looking for an open space.
"Why would you put a bird in a cage? Seems cruel."
