Chapter 11: Needing Answers

After the storm was over Luna and Winger raced. It was close but on the homestretch Winger saw Leyla and Narumi standing on Summer's head and wearing cheerleader outfits while saying 'Go Luna'. This caused such suprise that he slowed down, as Luna took advantage to take the lead and win.

"Aww man!" Winger and Dak groaned as Leyla and Narumi switched back to Inferno and Aggro and gave Luna a flying hug each.

That night Inferno had another strange dream.

~Dream~

Inferno hid under in a nearby tree as she saw Summer, Tempest, and Sapphire flying past her at an unnatural speed.

"We need to find a cure for Riptide!" Summer told her two children as they flew through the sky.

"What's wrong with her mom?" Tempest asked, staring up at her mom with fearful eyes. "Is she going to be ok?"

The older water dragon sighed softly and flicked her tail anxiously from left to right. "I'm not sure girls, I'm not sure but I hope we can find a cure for her soon."

"Don't worry Tempest," Sapphire told her sister with a half smile on her face. "The other Rescue Riders are there to keep an eye on her."

As the three dragons flew on through the air, Inferno quickly followed them, careful to stay out of sight.

The four dragons flew for what felt like hours before Summer suddenly dove downwards with the two younger Fastfins close behind.

"Let's rest up for a bit," Summer told her daughters as they nod their heads in agreement.

Inferno lands close by them and soon realizes that she's still tiny, even in her dream.

Before she think could more on the sudden realization, the fire dragon felt a sudden pressure crush her.

It was Sapphire.

Before Inferno could say a word or tell Sapphire to get off of her, everything faded to black.

~End Dream~

"What in the name of Nóttu was that?" Luna asked Summer as she sent Aggro and Inferno onto the floor.

"Are you okay?" Summer asked Inferno. "You suddenly turned from water back to dragon and started struggling."

"Yeah I'm fine mum," Inferno said with a disoriented look on her face. "Just another dream."

"Was it Sapphire and Tempest again?" Summer asked, hugging her close.

"Yeah it was," Inferno agreed. "They were with Summer looking for something to cure a sick Riptide, at least that's what they said they were doing. In the dream they didn't see us but I woke up when Sapphire sat on me and I couldn't get out."

"We really need to find out why you're having these dreams," Aggro said with a thoughtful yet concerned look crossing her face.

"There was a resonance," Luna told them, jumping into the conversation. "That probably caused it."

"A resonance?" Aggro asked her, blinking and staring up at the Light Fury with a confused look on her face. "What's that?"

"Is that like the dream world or something like that?" Inferno asked the white dragon with a wide-eyed look on her face.

"Yeah it is," Luna said with a shrug. "It connects you to another mentally, but if you're not psychic then it takes the form of dreams. If you wanted I could follow the resonance now I know about it."

"Thank you Luna," Summer said as they agreed. "That would be great! We can head out tomorrow."

The next day Summer, (with Aggro and Inferno inside her watersack), Monica, and Luna left with Luna telling Winger to keep the others out of trouble. They ended up finding a cave on an island several hours away, inside the cave was a glowing crystal that when they touched it they were sucked through to an alternate world and saw a second Summer, a second Aggro, Sapphire, Tempest, a very sick Riptide, Heiđrún and her family, though the first five were the only ones recognized.
