The wedding party lazed at the pool the rest of the afternoon and ended up ordering dinner to enjoy in one of the cabanas. With satisfied stomachs and buzzing brains, they sank into the plush cabana furniture and watched the sun set on their first day.
Taehyung felt himself nodding off, surrounded by the friendly banter of his brother and friends. The warmth against his side provided by Jeongguk was not helping keep him awake. It wasn't long before he was gently snoring with his head on Jeongguk's shoulder. It hadn't dawned on either of them, but Taehyung and Jeongguk had been fairly fused at the hip all day. Jimin noticed though, and now looked at Taehyung with fondness and winked at Jungkook.
"I think this one is a lightweight," commented Yoongi, with a sweet rather than teasing tone.
Jin giggled. "He is. But I think he might just be exhausted from the redeye. I should probably get him to bed... Taehyung-ah..."
Jin reached over to squeeze his brother's shoulder, but Jimin interrupted the motion. "Don't wake him, hyung. He's tired. Jeongukkie, why don't you put those muscles to good use and carry him back?" Jeongguk blushed at the idea of carrying the sleeping boy to his bed.
Namjoon interjected. "It's been a long day for all of us. We should probably get some rest."
One by one the group dusted themselves off and started clearing their mess. They bid their goodbyes, leaving Jimin, Jeongguk and Taehyung, still asleep on Jeongguk's shoulder.
"Well, I think I'll go make sure Yoongi-hyung got back into his bungalow okay."
Jeongguk raised his eyebrows and smirked. "Well, it's like thirty yards away but you know, better safe than sorry."
"Right... well, you got this?" Jimin nodded towards his sleeping best friend.
"Yeah, I got him."
"Be careful with him," Jimin said. His words seemed to hold many meanings to Jeongguk. With a last parting glance, Jimin waved and beelined towards the bungalows.
Jeongguk took advantage of the opportunity to study Taehyung this closely. He was sleeping so soundly, and appeared for at least this moment, to not have a care in the world. Jeongguk found himself so pleased with the boy's state that he considered sitting there all night just to let him sleep. But to spare them both backaches in the morning, he quietly nudged him.
"Taehyungie-hyung."
Not a stir.
"Taehyungie-hyung." Jeongguk gently nudged him with his shoulder. He wasn't really sure if the sleeping beauty would appreciate being hauled off to his room unconscious, so Jeongguk tried to gently wake him instead. But the boy only nestled more closely into Jungkook, breathing deeply against his neck.
Taehyung nuzzled Jeongguk, sending a chill down the younger's neck at the contact. "Mmm. Smell good." Jeongguk let out a chuckle this, thinking that Taehyung was indeed rousing and the boys would soon be trudging back to their rooms. But then the snoring resumed. I guess we'll have to do this the fun way. Jungkook carefully wrapped his arm beneath the elder's shoulders, and with his other arm, scooped up his knees and pulled Taehyung onto his lap. He slowly withdrew the key card protruding from Taehyung's shorts pocket, and once he had him securely cradled in his arms, carefully stood and carried the boy bridal style back towards his bungalow. Jeongguk awkwardly swiped the key card with a flick of his wrist and pushed the door handle down, carrying Taehyung over the threshold, while taking care to not bump his head into the door frame.
When he got to Taehyung's room, he gently laid the boy down on his bed, and covered him with the duvet. he glanced around the room once more, this time, taking note of his grey travel blanket folded on top of Taehyung's suitcase. He also spotted what looked like an expensive camera sitting on his bedside table next to his phone charger. He took it upon himself to pull Taehyung's phone out of his pocket and plug it in. It was probably uncomfortable wedged in there anyway. When the screen illuminated, Jeongguk saw the unread text message notification.
Park Bogum
I need to speak with you.Pffft, thought Jeongguk. The audacity of this guy. What kind of idiot would cheat on Taehyung? Not just that, but text him when everyone was clearly trying to keep him at a distance. Jeongguk considered deleting the message. Alarm bells were blaring in his mind. Everyone seemed so pleased with how Taehyung had been more himself today and he didn't want this dipshit ruining it. Taehyung apparently didn't use a Lock Screen and erasing the message was totally doable. He picked up the phone but thought better of not invading Taehyung's privacy. Maybe he would want to talk to Bogum after all. Jeongguk realized he hoped he wouldn't, but it wasn't up to him to decide that. He set the phone back down. Instead, he pushed Taehyung's hair from his eyes and whispered, "Goodnight, pretty."
Jeongguk crossed the small Bungalow and opened the door, only to hear an unmistakeable low groan coming from his bungalow. No, scratch that. That was a moan. "Fuck, Jimin-ah!"
That sounded like Yoongi. Jeongguk stepped back behind the screen door and began weighing his options. The loveseat in front of the television would be a struggle. It's warm enough. Maybe I will be sleeping in the cabana tonight.
"Jeongukkie?"
Jeongguk spun around to see a groggy and adorably puffy-eyed Taehyung.
"How'd I get here? Did you carry me?"
Jeongguk gulped. "I did. I hope that's okay. We didn't want to wake you. I was about to go back to my room but I think the bungalow may be... occupied."
Another loud moan.
They both raised their eyebrows and snickered.
Taehyung waved him over. "Come on. You can have some of my sweats."
Seeing no other option at this point, Jeongguk didn't protest. He followed Taehyung into his room, who threw him a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. He went to the bathroom to rid himself of his swim clothes. He came back out to find Taehyung in adorable blue pinstriped pajamas laying on the left side of the bed, patting the other side for the younger.
"Hyung..." Jeongguk was ready to claim his imposition and sleep on the floor.
"No talking. Just sleep."
Jeongguk, feeling the weight of his fatigue, gave in and laid down next to the elder, making sure not to invade his space.
"Glad to see you again Jeongukkie."
"Me too. Goodnight hyung."
"Goodnight."
An hour or so later, Jimin returned to his rightful bungalow in quite a blissful state. He went to peek in on Taehyung, only to find Jeongguk beside him, sleeping on his belly, with Taehyung facing him, curled on his side.
"We'll that's fucking cute," Jimin whispered.
He then saw Taehyung's phone illuminate on the bedside table. Two unread message notifications.
