Audrey's POV:

Ali was buried in blankets and a heating pad on the couch next to the fireplace.

They looked like hell.

Their lips were blue, their skin was pale, and they were shivering. Emma came in from the kitchen and handed them hot cocoa, but they couldn't hold it because it was too hot for them. I frowned as Emma put it on the table.

"Oh, hey," Emma said when she saw me. Ali noticed me then.

"Why are you just lurking in the doorway, get your ass over here," they told me.

"You're cold as hell," I mumbled, sitting on the couch next to them.

"Yeah," they responded.

"I'll leave you two for a minute," Emma left the room. I chuckled.

"So, how are you doing?"

"I feel like shit."

"I would assume so," I said. "Also, thirteen hours? In the rain? What the actual fuck."

"Hey, it's alright, I'm fine and warming up now." they smiled reassuringly. But it didn't help. I was so upset that I let this happen to them.

"It's not fine! There is another killer, and they targeted you - you could have died!" I exclaimed.

"But I didn't," Ali told me. They grabbed my hand and I almost flinched at how cold it was. "Jesus, you're warm. Anyways, I'm here now with you. That's what matters."

I looked down at our hands and looked back up at them. I pulled them into a hug and they laid their head on my chest as I wrapped my arms around them. "You are so fucking cold."

"And you are so fucking warm," Ali mumbled, making me laugh.

"I wonder why," I replied, laying my head on theirs.

"Am I allowed to say hi to Alastair too?" Noah asked from the doorway. I jumped in surprise, expecting Ali to jump away from me. But they just continued to attach themselves to me.

"Hi, Noah," they mumbled.

"Hi, Ali." He gave me a look and I turned bright red.

Shut up, I mouthed to him. "Now shoo, you said hi," I said out loud.

"Not without doing this!" Noah snapped a picture of me and Ali and ran away, giggling like a schoolgirl. I groaned and Ali laughed.

"He's so funny, you're lucky to have a best friend like him," they told me.

I smiled. "Yeah, I guess I am. Hey, you should drink that hot cocoa Emma made you. It will help you warm up."

They sat up. "I can try but I couldn't hold it because it was too hot."

I frowned and held the hot cocoa. It was the same warmth as the kids hot cocoas at Dutch Bros. "It's pretty cooled off. Do you want a straw?"

"Yeah, I'll go get it," they started to get up but I stopped them.

"Absolutely not, you stay here and I'll get a straw."

"You guys need to be quieter," Brooke made her presence known as she walked in the room with a straw and put it in the hot cocoa. I reclined back on the couch, putting my feet up on the coffee table

Ali put their blanket as protection from the cup and picked up their hot cocoa, practically chugging it before laying on me.

My face felt like it was on fire as I wrapped my arms around them again.

"Aw, they love you," Brooke said before sprinting out of the room before I could throw something at her.

"She's not wrong," Ali mumbled.

By the time I processed what they had said, they were already asleep.
