You were almost brought to tears. Chris, behind you, freed Gladys. But you were too focused on what was before you.

He was sickly. Of course he was. Who wouldn't be? But he was alive. And his sweet emerald eyes glistened as they always had. He looked to you, a desperate cough leaving his throat as he climbed out from under the webbing. He'd certainly lost muscle fast. It was surprising, really.

You then noticed how sickly he looked. You reached into your purse and produced a packet of crackers you'd stolen from a restaurant, as well as the water bottle you kept with you at all times.

"Come on, hun. Drink up. Eat something, please."

Weak and tired, he took the water from you and drank. You had to pull it away from him when he started chugging the liquid, "Woah, woah. Slow."

He nodded, and started eating the crackers you'd supplied him.

Suddenly reminding you that now was no time for drawn out reunions, Chris told you to get out of the caverns first, directing you towards the exit.

You nodded and helped Diamond along, moving towards the exit of the cave. But your path was blocked. A large spider met eyes with you. All eight of them seemed trained on you, poised to attack.

But you didn't feel afraid. You finally didn't feel afraid of the beast before you. The others held still as they could, hoping it would show them some amount of mercy, or perhaps debating how to attack. Even Diamond cowered before the monster.

But you didn't.

You studied the creature with a clear mind. It was larger than the others. Much larger. It was likely the leader of this infestation, then. The queen bee, in a sense. Though of course, not a bee.

You weren't afraid of her. Not at all. You reached out a hand towards the giant arachnid. She seemed to lower her head, almost in a sign of respect. You rested your hand upon her snout, your nerves rising slightly.

You were nervous. But you weren't afraid. Whatever this spider was doing, she wasn't going to harm you. You didn't know why, nor how. Only that you were safe.

You'd made quite the impressive new friend.

The thundering sound of a motorcycle was matched only by a loud chittering. The noise moved at an impressive pace towards the exit of the cave. The townspeople stared with anticipation at the exit, just as they noticed a light erupt from the mouth of the cavern.

Out of the stoney entrance to the hellish cave emerged a giant eight legged monster, upon which sat... you. Holding Diamond in your arms to steady him. Your steed slid from the mouth of the cave into the open area, eliciting a good many screams from the townspeople, just before a motorcycle slid out the same way.

With a thud, the cycle hit the ground, and its two occupants ran away from the mouth of the cave.

Everyone stared at you and your unconventional mode of transportation, feeling truthfully quite terrified at the creature before them. But you felt on top of the world. Mainly because of the cheers from your friends. Your pet carried you along to your car, which your friends seemed to have brought around the side of the mall, and let you down from its back.

With a thundering boom, and a searing flare of heat, the mine and the mall both exploded into nothingness. The mayor cried out in anguish, seeming far more upset about the loss of the mall than anything else.

But you didn't care. You were too busy talking to the police and EMTs about the event. You were trying to get Diamond to a hospital. Luckily, due to his condition, and also your possession of a rather dangerous adversary, they took him in the ambulance and told you where to go to see him. You agreed, and said a quick goodbye to your friend.
