Chapter 1 - Ivy

"Skipper!" I hear boom and I grumbled at the voice. With a pillow by my side, I grab it and use it to cover my head.

"Let me sleep~" I whined in annoyance.

"Nope! Up little V, time to eat. I didn't cook for nothing!"

As if it couldn't get any worse, my aunt starts pulling on my covers. "Aunty Christina~" I whined and she successfully discarded my blankets and pillows onto my carpeted floor.

"I'm too tired!-" I grumbled, rubbing my eyes. I slowly sit up and brush some of my morning hair away from my face, my eyes now squinting from the light. "-Uncle didn't even do the pack work he promised to do so I had to do it"

"Hey! I'm a man with duties young lady" Uncle Marshall playfully scolded as he finally walked into my room. I cannot believe the audacity of him.

"Yea, of course. How could I forget? Those important duties including seducing your mate and laying back like there is no responsibility holding you down" I replied back.

They both chuckle and leave my room.

Once I got up I clean up any of the discarded blankets and pillows and made my bed. Thanks a lot for the mess aunt, Christina. What better way to start my morning?

I stumble into my bathroom. I stripped off my sweaty pajamas and turned on the water. I chuckle.

Not only I can turn on other un-mated male wolves but I can turn on the water. Why do I always think like this?

'Well you are truly weird, V' Marylynn laughed.

'True, True'

I step into the water and get ready for the day.

I came down in my black basketball shorts, white tee with the text 'Just do It', and my Nike high tops. I don't think there is anything important today to even put in an effort. I'm still waiting for Daniel to update me on the arrival of his mate.

"Do I smell my aunt's special breakfast?" I grinned.

"Yup! My special omelet and morning green tea. Would you like some?" she hugged me and set me down on the table.

"Nah, I'm fine" she rolled her eyes and set the plate down in front of me, along with the green tea.

My eyes lit up in excitement and I dug in, savoring every bite. Even Marylynn was wagging her tail in my head. She loves our aunt dearly. "Thank goddess you didn't take what I said to heart"

"I've known you long enough, darling" Aunt Christina just finished setting up the table and seated herself to the right of me. I smile at her and continue eating.

And just on cue, another voice echoes in the house "MOM!" More shouting ensued along with thumping. I can only imagine that they're chasing each other around.

Walking in with a tired sigh, Uncle called back to my cousin. "Miranda has your brush, Ben.."

"They need to stop fighting. Just throw the brush away and buy two new ones. Easy" I said with my mouth full. Uncle looks at me with disbelief.

"This show has been going on for months and you now pitch this idea?" He asks as he sat down in front of his food.

I shrug. "You have a brain too, use it" a pair of eyes rolled at me and I just kept eating.

Then down comes my 2 cousins. Ben and Miranda Rose. The most annoying people in this house. Because of their constant bickering, I sometimes have to sleep in the Alpha house. Too bad I can only live there when I find my mate. Oh, sue me..

As they ran down the stairs they were fighting for a while over a BRUSH! I lean back in my seat with a solemn look on my face. This feels as if the day will drag out because of them.

"You know what, Marshall? Take Ivy and her friends to wherever they want!" My eyes widen and I look at my aunt. A relief... I love you, Aunty!

"Wha- But!-"

"No buts, she was kept up last night because of the work you didn't do. You did promise" Goddess bless my aunt! Did I tell you I love her?

My dear Beta sighs and grumbles. His mate walks around the table to his side and bends down to whisper something in his ear. His eyes lit up and he turns to me.

"Let's go" I stand up after finishing my food and place my dish in the sink. I grab my jacket​ and kiss my lovely aunt's cheek before heading out the door with my uncle on my tail.

"Who's going to come this time?" He asks, swinging his keys around his finger.

"Nobody," I finally decide with a smile on my face. "I wanna hang out with my Beta" I slung my arm around Marshall and we leave.

"Mall?"

"Only for the food"

Uncle grins, "Mall it is then"

Food here we come.

"Okay, now look, I've been eighteen for two weeks now so you officially cannot avoid this question" He gives me a look and I continue as we walk out of the huge doors. "Why didn't you take the opportunity to become alpha when I offered to give it up to you?" I finally ask. I've asked this before, and yet he always responded by telling me when I turn 18. I never understood why he turned it down.

Avoiding eye contact for a moment, he scratches his scruff, "Ivy, my brother was everyone's favorite... and you're what's left of him" he says quietly. I look at him with a small smile. "And I had no doubt that not only did you have a part of him in you, I knew that you be a great leader for everyone when you mature"

We stay quiet for a moment as I take in his words. Never would I think that he would say this. I guessed that maybe he would joke around and say that it was because he did not want the extra responsibility but this felt... nicer. "Well, thank you"

"For what?"

"Believing in me" He pulled me in for a hug as we walked to the car.

As we head back we get a mind link from Jarred, our top warrior. Not only our top warrior but was he was also promoted to general of our pack warriors.

'Alpha Ivy, Beta Marshall, we've had a rogue walk into the premises. We captured him and have him chained up in the dungeons for questioning'

'Thank you, Jarred. We're on our way' I answered quickly.

My uncle nodded at me and sped towards the pack.

Really? Now I have to deal with a Rogue... Goddess. It's also 2pm! The interrogations usually last for hours! That's not including the paperwork.. I better sleep after the interrogation or I will be one cranky Alpha.
