My mate took a moment before responding, "Uhm, 10 years..?" he answered although he didn't look very sure of himself. "I think..." he added on shrugging slightly, "Its been a long time."

I looked at him with calculation. I had to block out Marylynn because she was busy trying to jump on him. Her need to mark her mate at first glance only grows annoying and it became a headache.

"Ten years?? That's... I'm sorry" I told him, honestly. I couldn't imagine being on my own for ten years... That's such a long time to think about.

My uncle clears his throat, "Why are you a rouge?" he asks Kaito. My eyes never leave him. I watch his body, trying to decipher what he is trying to say with no words.

Suddenly, a forced look took over his face. He was pretending to be unbothered by it. "Something happened, we were attacked. Everyone in my old pack died," he answered. His eyes seemed to be focused on something in the distance and I could only assume he was remembering it again.

Reaching out, I invite myself to grab hold of his hand. Kaito flinches away against it just like in the cell, but I think he starts to feel some ease when he didn't pull away and relaxed with an exhale. He had to witness his pack's death and become a rouge. I wondered how he is still sane after all of it. I was barely mentally stable after losing my family.

"Have you had any contact with humans-"

"Did you ever cross paths with the Rouge King?" I jerked my head towards my uncle who looked very serious. Rouge King? I looked at Kiato's eyes and frowned. They weren't red. They were a beautiful ocean blue color. If he were with the Rouge King I wouldn't have seen such beauty.

"Rouges have kings?" he asks, answering Uncle Marshall's question. From the corner of my eye, I see my uncle relax his shoulders a little and nod.

"Yea, it's their 'leader' or in other words, their Alpha," I answered, and something like anger flash across his face. I gently squeeze his hand, urging him to calm down. I can tell that the mate bond might even be grounding him a little.

"I think he killed my old pack," he spoke out in a tone that clearly showed he just made this realization himself. "I remember there being someone with so much power, but he didn't have a pack sign."

"I'm sorry," I told him, before I could say more my uncle speaks up, "It wouldn't be a surprise for the Rogue King to be the one to destroy your pack. He is known to do so to gain power."

Kaito listens to his words carefully. Something that I could only assume was anger flooded his eyes. I sigh knowing we had to finish the questions.

"Have you had any contact with humans? Like... Playing sports with them, attending their schools, socializing-- that sort of stuff."

"Some sports," he answers, "It was mostly lacrosse. I did a little bit of American football. I attended a high school for a little, but that was it." He smiled.

I nodded, mentally taking note. "I don't know if you mind me asking since you said your pack... is gone. What was the name of your old pack?" Honestly, I didn't like this question because some rogues who have joined my pack came from a pack of abuse or whatnot, and some had lost their pack, just like Kaito.

Surfacing, my wolf whimpered for our mate.

'I want to come out and comfort him, Ivy'

'I know Marylynn, but look, he survived and found us,' I try to push Marylynn down in the depths of my mind again but she is now pushing back harder than before. Why did I get a wolf that likes to fight?

'Yeah, but he was scared out of his mind! Look at him. He clearly isn't healed from it'.

I cut her off, again. I cannot be missing this, and I do not feel like arguing with her.

"I don't know." Kaito admits quietly, "I don't remember anything from my old pack."

Kaito starts fidgeting with his hands, trying to distract himself from the feelings his memories might be bringing him.

If I hadn't cut my wolf off, she would've scolded me for putting him in discomfort trying to remember the awful memories. But this is business. I had to learn that, even though it may hurt another wolf.

Uncle Marshall sighs, he looks over at me and then Kiato. "Alright, kid. All we need to know now is if you would want to stay and join the pack and be part of Ivy's life as her mate." The realization of everything finally hit and I feel the heat slowly rising in my cheeks but I look into Kiato's eyes, hopeful he would accept.

Ever since I first shifted when I was 16, I've been waiting for when I finally cross paths with my mate. I thought that maybe I wasn't going to get one at all, which I don't think would have been that big of a surprise if things turned out that way.

Kaito's mood suddenly changes and he nods. "Definitely," he smiled. "I mean if that's okay"

I smiled at him, "Of course it's okay. We wouldn't offer if it weren't."

Uncle Marshal smiled and suddenly clapped his hands. "Well, that's all we need to know. Now, I can get you a room settled unless you guys want to be in the Alpha house?" With a snap, I am now looking at him. I completely forgot!

I finally met my mate. I can move into my own house. I won't have to worry about bickering cousins or pda from my aunt and uncle. I can do what I want. Only that.. I'll be with my mate... who I've just met.

I turn and look at my mate, "Only if Kaito agrees and wants to."

"Uh... Don't see why not," He said with a shrug. I realized that it was pretty cute.

I nodded and smiled. "One thing though. Don't get any ideas about being touchy with Ivy."

I turn again in shock, "Why do you always feel the need to talk??" I groan out and turn away, finally walking off as my uncle bursts into a fit of laughter. I flip him off as I walk away, no doubt blushing. I can't believe my father wanted him to be Beta.
