As I hear Ivy's uncle, my face erupted into a small blush, but I doubted it wasn't noticeable.

To hide my reaction, I shrugged, but I knew the beta didn't fall for it.

I had probably gotten half an hour of sleep during the past few days, so I was exhausted and the headache was getting a little worse. Without realizing it, I yawned and covered my mouth while stretching. Being in my human form was odd. Normally I was running around in my wolf form. It was safer that way.

"Come on. You look tired,"  I looked down at Ivy after hearing her quietly talking. I hadn't noticed that it showed that badly, but I guess the yawn was a sure tell.

"Maybe a little," I admitted rubbing my shoulder. I was suddenly aware of how much my body felt exhausted. It was like my limbs were gone and replaced with a more floppy, weak noodle version.

She gripped my arm and tugged me out the door, "Bye, Uncle!" she exclaimed as she pulled me outside. How strong was she? It was like fighting against the pull of a tank.

It was a long walk but we eventually stopped at a huge house. Like it was huge. The other homes reminded me of the homes in a subdivision that I would walk my teammate to after games, but this house was almost double maybe even triple the size of the other homes.

She walked us through the front door and I could have sworn she was shaking, but it also could have been me.

I smiled at her as we walked towards her room. Well, our room. I tried keeping up with her pace but not only was she strong she was fast too. She was obviously a very powerful werewolf.

The room was pretty. It had colors that reminded me of the warm summer days when the team and I would play lacrosse for hours and hours on end.

The bed. It looked so soft and welcoming. Like it was calling my name to sleep on it. I didn't move though. I just looked around. After a moment, I noticed a few pictures on a vanity. It was a picture of Ivy with a man and a woman.

Ivy had walked beside me and looked at the picture and sadness flooded her eyes. "Are they your parents?" I asked and she nodded slowly before setting her gaze on me.

"I heard you were tired and you honestly look tired. Why don't you get some sleep while I finish some work?" I frowned when I realized she changed the subject, but she was right. I was exhausted. All I wanted to do was shower and sleep.

"Sure." I nodded and tiredly lay on the bed. I had basketball shorts and a t-shirt on from after I shifted back. "How long do you think it will take?" I asked.

"Uh maybe a few hours," she responded looking at me slightly. I frowned a little and rested my head on the pillow. Part of me wanted her to stay and lay down with me, but I knew she had to get work done.

"If you wake up, you can tour the house? There should be some food in the fridge or at least stuff for a sandwich. I'll send someone in with clothes." I tiredly nod and watch as she left.

After a few minutes, someone came in carrying clothes. I checked them out and it was some sweatpants, a soft tshirt, and some boxer briefs.

Once they left, I went to the bathroom connected to the bedroom, and I took a quick shower. I let the water run over my skin for a few extra minutes enjoying the warmth. After I finished, I dried off with the towel that was hanging on a rack and slipped into the sweats.

I dried my hair pretty well as I looked in the mirror. I had scars all over my arms, legs, and torso from either fighting or lacrosse, but they were mostly from fighting.

There was this one that was more prominent than the others and I ran my finger over the scarred skin. It kind of resembled half of the yin-yang symbol.

I had been bitten by another wolf during sparring and they had apparently had something against me or Toni, my wolf counterpart, and went pretty deep and tore skin. When they pulled back the skin tore in the little tail part of it.

You could imagine how painful that was, but it healed quickly. It only scarred because of how deep it was.

I felt myself getting angry over it so I pulled the shirt on and crawled back into bed. I wasn't tired anymore so I just laid there thinking.

My parents, my pack, and my whole family were brutally murdered when I was nine. The sight of my pack on fire and the screams of everyone who was in pain resurfaced.

As a child forced to be rogue, I ran around on my own until I made some friends. They ended up being rogues too. They accepted me into their little group but I couldn't handle them being so aggressive. Their eyes were turning that vibrant red that rabid rogues had. The new self appointed leader was pushing them to it.

During that whole ordeal, I made some human friends, but even with them, I didn't feel completely accepted. I never could be. I was on the run.

I left the rogue clique and while I was on the run found my mate.

Alpha Ivy.

I still didn't know what to make of everything. I didn't know much about mates except that they're your true love. What if I end up doing something and embarrassing myself? Or worse, Ivy gets hurt.

I took a deep stressed breath and turn to my side wishing I could play some lacrosse. It always helped clear my mind and the post-adrenaline high always helped me process what I should do.

I glanced at the pictures on the vanity. They seemed close. I hated that Ivy had felt pain earlier when looking at them. I wonder where they are now?

I rolled over to face the other direction because the pictures were now consuming my thoughts before the familiar darkness of sleep consumed me.
