Chapter 9 - Ivy

I woke up, with the sweet scent of my mate. Moaning softly, I open my eyes and notice I'm on the bed.

I'm pretty sure I slept on the- oh..

I blushed, just thinking of him. Better yet, I woke up with him in MY arms and Marylynn purring in my head.

Right.. Alphas are very possessive over their mates. But I don't want to make him think that I will make a move on him when he's not comfortable. Who knew that my mate would be a rogue? This mate business is seriously not easy- I take back all the mocking I did with Daniel and Dom.

I wanted to unwrap my arms but... It just feels so right. Like he is protected when he is enclosed in my hold.

'Don't do anything!! Just stay like this for now!' Marylynn kept nagging in my head. I didn't even answer her, I'm just going to stay like this until he is awake. If only I knew how since his back is turned to me.

He shuffled in his sleep, and as he turns around, he unintentionally moves closer to me. I could feel the hot trail of sparks wherever our skin made contact.

After a few moments, I see him getting restless as he slowly starts to wake up. With my hand, I brush his hair to the side, "Good morning, Kaito." I smile at him and he tiredly smiles back.

"Morning, Ive." I watch him closely but there was no evidence of confusion or discomfort like before. He seems to have grown used to the sparks.

I unwrap my arms from him gaining an annoyed growl from Marylynn, I know I'm not going to hear the end of it with her. "So what's the game plan for today?" he asks, mid-yawn.

"Well, I was thinking that maybe we can get to know each other more- if you're comfortable with it," I say quickly. Call me desperate, but maybe I just wanted to spend more time with my mate. Sue me.

He nodded, "Like a uhm, you know, a date?" He asked, sounding quite unsure.

I nodded, "Yeah! Something like that"

"Mm, what are you thinking about?"

"I don't know.. maybe it will just be a surprise for you." I smiled and his eyes narrow at me. My smile drops, "What?"

"I hate surprises," he mumbled shaking his head.

"Come on, this is gonna be a good one." I smile gently at him. He looked at me, sighing.

"I promise, it's not going to be bad. I have a feeling you will like it" I added, trying to make him feel better. I even place a hand on his, in hopes to calm him down.

Taking a few moments to think about it, he finally replies back in a mumble. "Whatever you say.."

"Look, just trust me. I just need about two hours to get everything ready. While I take care of my errands, you can get yourself ready" I suggested.

He smiled gently at me, "Okay." And with that, I place a small kiss on the back of his hand and get off the bed.

He stood up and grabbed some of the clothes that my uncle left for him. Little by little, he will soon have a full wardrobe that will fit to his liking. I keep a mental note to take him shopping later on.

I eagerly went to my drawer, pulling out some clothes. "I'm going to use the bathroom on the other side of the house," I said, letting him know.

I quickly left and speeded over to the west side of the house in bubbling excitement and went into the bathroom, took a shower, and got ready for today.

I made sure to blow dry and curl my hair, I watched them bounce and I giggled.

I walked out, feeling fresh, and immediately went to the back of the house, where the closet it.

I got out a large picnic basket, a blanket, and walked over to the kitchen. I packed some of the essentials and kitchenware.

I began making the food, not noticing Kaito walking in. I was so distracted by the fact that I was visualizing our day in my head, I didn't feel him creep up behind me, peeking over my shoulder to see what I'm making. The sparks let me know that he was.

"Hey!" I yelled playfully and try to scoot him away with my body.

"What? I'm trying to see," He replied, a tiny smile on his face. I giggled.

"You get to see the results of what I'm making later!" I said, still trying to push him away.

He chuckled, "Fine, fine, I'll be watching tv"

"Alright! I will tell you when I'm ready and when we will be leaving!" I called after him as he walks to the other room.

I finished cooking some pasta and made some sandwiches. I even cut up some fruit for us.

I packaged everything and put it in the basket, also adding some water and juice. Maybe I'm overdoing it but I think it is best to have options.

After I was sure I was all done, I held the basket on my arm and walked over into the room Kaito was in. "Kaito" I say gently.

He looked over at me and turned off the tv. "Are you done yet?"

I nodded to his question with a smile, holding up the basket packed with our picnic. "Come on, let's go"

He got up, combing his hair back with his hand. I giggled at him and he smiled at me.

We left the house and walked out to the forest. He followed me out until we were at a clearing. We walked out more to find a good place to settle down.

I found a spot, with beautiful green grass surrounding a big tree. I ducked in, not getting hit by the leaves. Kaito followed after me and I placed the blanket down and unloaded the basket.

"So, before it gets dark, how does having fun and eating sound to you, Mr. Wentworth?" I asked with my hands behind my back. Kaito stared at me with a lopsided smile and nodded, sitting down with me on the blanket.

He leaned on the tree slightly. "Im down for any type of fun."

I giggled, "So would you still consider working in the office doing pack work fun? It's not for me" A couple of years of boring hours in my office, the first few months I was Alpha, a few tears would sometimes be shed. I mean.. A teenage girl becoming Alpha at a young age because her family dies? I know many people would admit that it's tough.

But things have been easing up for me and I was living my best life. Especially now that something new has been inserted into my life. I may not know how to work this through but I am learning. This is the one thing I was never taught. I have to learn how to do this myself.

But I'm ready to do this. I know I am.

Kaito and I ate and joked around. We acted as though we were the only people on earth and knew each other for years. It was nice. After we finished eating, we went to graze around and stayed till it got dark. The best moment I have had in my life right now is laying on the blanket in my mate's arms, looking up through the leaves at the stars in comfortable silence. Who knew that something so simple would probably bring us closer?

I felt myself smile.
