"X-Xiaoge....Pangzi....he....no.." Wu Xie was beginning to panic again, voice slowly getting louder by each passing second.

"Wu Xie, calm down. Are you absolutely sure its him?" Zhang asked as he squeezed Wu Xie's hand, hoping it would provide some sort of comfort to the younger.

"N-no...." Wu Xie replied softly, coming back to his senses.

"Then don't panic, it might be someone else. I'll go up and and check. Can I see a photo of your friend?" Zhang asked softly, caressing the younger's hand with his thumb.

"Sure-" Wu Xie's reply was cut short by a voice.

"Tianzhen! You can't just hand out my photos like that! I know I am handsome but still."

Wu Xie couldn't believe his ears as he glanced back towards the same figure and saw his best friend waving at him as if he did not just disappear into thin air for like two days. Zhang saw the hint of relief and happiness in the eyes of the bespectacled man.

"PANGZI!!" Wu Xie yelled but again had his mouth sealed shut by Zhang.

"Too loud again. Look, he is alright, so calm down ok?" Zhang repeated as the younger softly nodded. Zhang pulled his hand away and waited for Wu Xie to completely regain his composure. Opening his eyes, Wu Xie gave a firm nod of confirmation to the older, signifying him that he was now okay.

"If you two love birds are done flirting, mind helping me down? Its a little scary up here." Pangzi said and the duo immediately separated from each other, cheeks and ears slightly red.

Wu Xie stepped forward only to be pulled back by his arm. He looked over to see Zhang shake his head as a no.

"You stay here, I'll go." Zhang said as he jumped over to the branches of the tree with zero effort. Wu Xie's mouth was left wide open as he couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. Pangzi was in the same trance.

Zhang reached over to Pangzi and laid out a hand for the latter to hold but the male hesitated.

"Dude, are you a human or a sugar-glider?" He asked but received no reply. Zhang simply blinked at the man as he forcefully grabbed Pangzi's arm, pulling him down with him.

"Holy-GIVE ME A WARNING DUDE!" Pangzi yelled and Zhang winced at the loud tone.

No wonder these 2 are best friends, both of them belong to the same category of idiots.

"Didn't I just say that we have to be quiet?" Zhang asked, voice low and gaze hooded. He knew handling these two together is gonna be one tough job.

"I-"

The sound of leaves crumpling shut Pangzi up and the trio looked everywhere around them to identify where the sound came from. No one moved a muscle, yet the sound persisted.

Suddenly, Zhang unsheathed his sword and ran towards Wu Xie in full speed. The latter was a bit taken aback as he thought Zhang was coming to hurt him, but then he focused his attention on those dark eyes. He noticed that Zhang wasn't looking at him, rather behind him.

Behind me?

Wu Xie turned around to see the largest python he had ever seen. It was as long as the trains he saw everyday back in the city. The serpent had the typical dark green skin with even darker markings on its huge scales. Its head was as big a car and it could eat Wu Xie is one clean bite, the thing wouldn't even need to chew!

Wu Xie froze on spot as he stared at death in the face. He couldn't move a muscle, as if he was turned to stone.

"Get out of the way, Wu Xie!" Zhang and Pangzi yelled at the same time, but no matter how much he tried, Wu Xie's body simply refused to listen to him.

All of a sudden, the ground shook as vines erupted from the under the soil, wrapping themselves around the giant reptile, stopping Zhang in his tracks. Wu Xie, Pangzi and Zhang could only watch in terror-stricken amazement as the python finally got a taste of its own medicine.

"How you like that, huh? Now do you know how those poor humans must have felt when you choked them to death?" Pangzi mocked at the now half-dead snake. Although he was shaking in fear, he still couldn't clamp his mouth shut.

Zhang took this opportunity to pull Wu Xie to his side, grabbing the man's hand only to retreat his own hand when he felt something weird on them. He looked down at Wu Xie's hand and his eyes went wide.

"Wu Xie! What happened to you hand?" He asked in a voice that was louder than his usual whisper.

"What do you mean? My hand is-WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" Wu Xie shrieked.

His hands were covered in vines, they didn't hurt him but stayed there, wrapping themselves protectively around his hand.

"Tianzhen, are you okay?!" Pangzi asked as he took Wu Xie's hand in his to examine it.

Zhang frowned. He snatched Wu Xie's hand as he drew out his dagger. The python was dead, long forgotten at this point as the trio's main focus was on Wu Xie.

"Xiaoge....what are you gonna do?" Wu Xie couldn't help but be a little nervous when he saw the razor-sharp dagger pointed at his wrist.

"Cut them out." Zhang replied shortly as he prepared himself so as to not accidently harm Wu Xie. The latter, although terrified, decided to trust Zhang. He closed his eyes and braced himself for any sort of pain that might come his was any moment.

Then, as if like magic, the vines disappeared on their own and Wu Xie's hand was back to normal. Wu Xie's eyes were still screwed shut as he bit his lower lip in anticipation.

"What's wrong, Xiaoge? Are the vines too close to my skin?" Wu Xie asked, eyes still shut.

"Nope, they vanished." Pangzi said truthfully.

"Shut up Pangzi! Now is not the time for jokes." Wu Xie scolded frustrated as he thought Pangzi was joking. When will he ever be serious?

"He is speaking the truth." Zhang spoke up and Wu Xie immediately opened his eyes. He looked at his hand, examining every nook and cranny but couldn't find sign of the creepy vines.

"You're right, they're gone....." Wu Xie voice started to fade as the world around him spun.

"Tianzhen!"

"Wu Xie!"

He could barely register the voices of his two companions as he slipped into a world of darkness.
