Wu Xie let go of Zhang's hand, switched on his flashlight and shifted his attention towards his surroundings. He noticed that they were now out of the maze and in a small, almost empty room.

The room, unlike the cave, was made of a beautiful green stone, similar to jade, making the room colder than it should have been. Wu Xie shivered. Zhang noticing this, pulled Wu Xie clode to him, bringing the younger in a warm embrace.

Wu Xie was kind of amused at how the placement of a room can have its vibe altered almost completely. He had visited a similar room, back when he was a kid. A small compact room that radiated warmth and light, yet this room, although it had the same structure was cold and was shrouded in mystery and never ending darkness.

“Guys, don’t you think this place is a little too simple and quiet?” Wu Xie asked. He was beginning to grow suspicious and a frown etched itself on his face.

“What do you mean?” Yuchen asked, although he himself felt something was off about the place. His one hand was holding a flashlight while the other was intertwined with Xiazi’s hand.

“Look around.” Wu Xie said. “We just barely escaped death with that crazy mermaid back kn the maze but this place, although is dark, is so calm. Not to mention, the statues that were littered in every corner of the maze are no where to be seen in this room. Not a single one.”

Yuchen hummed in response, pondering over Wu Xie’s words. He darted his eyes everywhere in the darkness, nevet focusing on a single spot till his eyes landed on Xiazi. The older male was already gazing at the younger with soft eyes, causing the Yuchen to divert his attention to the first place his flashlight shone on. The walls.

“This is interesting.” He commented as he studied the mural painted on the wall. He wanted to go closer as the mural wasn't clear enough due to it been painted on an ornamental stone rather the normal rock. But he was restrained by Xiazi who was worried that Yuchen might go blind again.

Yuchen noticed a man tied to a pole in the middle of a human circle, a fire lit where he was standing as the men of the circle seemed to be dancing.

A ritual.

“This is a sacrificial room.” Zhang said, his voice echoing in the empty room which sent a sharp chill down Wu Xie’s spine. Yuchen unintentionally gulped as his grip on Xiazi’s hand tightened subconsciously.

“Are you sure, Xiaoge?” Wu Cie asked, hoping that his Xiaoge would be wrong for once, but deep down he knew Zhang spoke with solid proof and facts, never did he say anything on a whim.

Zhang nodded as he pointed his flashlight towards the ground and everyone’s gaze followed. Wu Xie’s breath hitched once he saw what Zhang was indicating to.

A sacrificial ring made of red paint. Or is it.....

“Xiaoge, what is this ring made of....?” Wu Xie asked hesitantly. Zhang bent down and stroked the paint, rubbing his fingers as he brought it up to his nose.

“Dried blood.”

Wu Xie once again felt the same sharp chill and he shivered. His brows knit together as his wish to get out of this room began getting stronger and although Yuchen had a straight face, his feelings were the same as Wu Xie’s.

“I am not liking this place, we should get out of here before we run into some unexpected trouble.”  Wu Xie said.

Curse my tongue.

As soon as Wu Xie completed his sentence, a loud crack was heard across the room, the sound bouncing off of the walls. Zhang directed his flashlight towatds the source of the sound and was dumbfounded at what caused it.

A human like figure made of the same stone as the wall was coming towards them and it did not seem like it wanted to say hi. Its movements were slow and not well defined, almost as if it woke up from a long nap and had trouble coordinating its limbs. Zhang easily dealt with the jade soldier but quickly realized they might be in more than he originally thought.

The number of jade soldiers kept increasing and now everyone was fighting off the robotic creature, stabbing them in the area where the human heart lies with their daggers.

Slowly but surely, the robotic movements of these unusual creatures was becoming more fluid and it was getting difficult to handle such a huge number of them combined with the rise of skill by every passing second.

Zhang was already occupied with three of these when he noticed one of them approaching Wu Xie, slowly and stealthily for a sneak attack. It had a knife in its stiff hand and was ready to stab the puppy eyed male who was busy fighting off another jade soldier.

“Wu Xie, watch out!” Zhang yelled.
