As the weeks past I learn to juggle everything on my plate. I still follow Archer around as his "assistant" but he has now let me return to training. He's there for it, which I normally was in Beta Garrett's class but he switched me for precautionary reasons. I'm already scheduled to take my finals which took a couple of weeks of convincing the school to let me attempt to finish early. They couldn't complain much since I was already finish with all the assignments though. Then every night I spent time with David learning more about magic and our family roots. Also, every so often I would spend a day with Vic and occasionally Shell but she was busy with her own final studies.
Now, I sit in Archers office with a laptop in my lap typing a final essay. He's working on his own paperwork. He has a cup of tea, I've learned his preferred flavor by now. Blackberry with a good portion of honey. The office door bangs open, Archer heatedly glares at the intruder. "How can I help you father?" He sneers.
I refuse to look up at either of the two men. Father Alpha takes the seat beside me making me even more uncomfortable. "Not only did you send Megan away but you gave this runt your grandmothers house?"
I glance up from the laptop catching Archers eye. I hadn't even thought about father Alpha when Archer gave me the house. Father Alpha had been in and out of packlands so quickly these weeks to even keep up if he was here or not. "I figured it was the right thing to do since your friend was the one who burn down her last house. Besides who was going to be using it anyway?"
"What if I wanted to move back?"
Cold fear runs through my body at his words. Having father alpha live back at this pack would be chaotic. "You would give up your position as an elder to live here?" Archer dryly asks. "Besides, Megan needed a more rigorous schooling. If it makes you feel any better I sent her to the same one you sent your sister to."
Father Alpha looks over at me but I keep my gaze on the computer before me. "Besides it was from moms side of the family anyway. Aunt Jenny gave Vic her house and you know what it would be like if you decided to take gramps house from Megan before they die. However your room here in the pack house should be up to your standards."
"Archer-"
"Father?" He exaggerates. He's clearly annoyed.
"Don't use that tone!"
"I'm busy if you can't tell. I am still sorting through this mountain of paper work after we were attacked two times in the past few months. What is it that ills you so that you must come pester me?"
Father Alpha stares at his son in shock. Bright angry amber eyes are trained on him. The room almost feels suffocating as the two alphas try to seem intimidating to one another. "The lack of respect in this pack is what ills me," he bitterly responds.
"Your lack of respect for this pack is what ills me," Archer responds. "You blatant disregard for members safety, the disrespect of putting off mating requests, the arrogance to think we owe you anything after you abandoned us-"
"Do not speak to me that way Archer, I am still your father!"
Archer stands up as does father Alpha. The look in Archers eyes has be scrambling for something to do, somehow intervene or get the hell out of the way. So I mindlink the beta while putting my laptop down.
Do not let Archer bait into his fathers tricks! Beta Garret links to me.
I jolt up before Archer rounds the desk. I put a hand to his chest hoping that he won't snap at me in retaliation. It's a likely outcome seeing as we are always taught to avoid an angry alphas attention like it was a plague. Instead I'm going against my nature and taking a gamble for the sake of my pack and my alpha. Even if I'm just a means of power to him that means he needs me alive. With fear causing me to shake and the inability to meet his gaze I firmly put pressure against his chest bringing him to a stop. "He is baiting you Alpha. You're better than him, don't let him push your buttons."
