a couple days later, you knocked on kakucho's door. you had washed and dried his sweatshirt he let you borrow the night after the big raid, so you wanted to drop by and return it.
kakucho answered a moment later, surprise evident on both your faces. for kakucho, he was surprised to see you. you because he was shirtless. it took everything in you to not look down at what you could only assume were a chiseled chest and abs so well defined you could've washed his sweatshirt on.
"nice to see you, y/n. what's going on?" he asked casually, standing in the doorway.
"hey, sorry to bother you." you said, smiling up at him. "i wanted to bring your sweatshirt back to you."
he looked down at the hoodie you held in your hands. he nodded in recognition, remembering that he lent it to you before his gaze met yours.
"you don't need it to cover yourself anymore?" kakucho joked.
heat rose to your cheeks, but you forced out a nonchalant chuckle. "not right now. thank you for letting me use it."
"of course." he smiled softly.
when he didn't make a move to grab his sweatshirt, you slightly lifted it towards him, offering it to him. kakucho paused for a second before reaching for it, gently holding it in between his large hands.
there was a beat of silence before he spoke again.
"you could've just kept it, you know." kakucho said, his eyes moving from his sweatshirt back to yours.
"uh...kept what? your sweatshirt?" you asked hesitantly, to which he nodded.
"isn't that something your girlfriend should do?" you asked a bit sarcastically. you didn't want to make it seem like you were desperate to keep his sweatshirt even though you felt a bit flustered.
"i wouldn't know, i don't have one." he responded without a second thought, making you choke on air. "i bought you clothes before, anyway."
"oh.. right." you responded. you had forgotten the first time you had met kakucho. the time where he begrudgingly agreed to go shopping with you and bought you the clothes you had been wearing during your "stay" with bonten.
kakucho tilted his head to the side and furrowed his brow slightly as you stared at each other for a moment.
"do you want to come in?" he asked, opening his door and stepping to the side to usher you in. "i'm making dinner right now."
fuck me. you thought. any more of this and i might fall for him.
"o-okay, just for a bit" you stammered, walking into his place. he shut the door behind you gently before leading you further into his apartment.
while ran and sanzu had expensive things on display in their apartment to flex their wealth, kakucho had very few decorations. his walls were mostly bare and his apartment was free of clutter, except for a couple cooking magazines and books on his coffee table and kitchen island.
speaking of the kitchen, you had to do a double take of it. kakucho's kitchen was absolutely massive, way bigger than the others you had seen so far. it was a big L shape with huge appliances. the fridge even had that new window thing so you could see inside the fridge without opening it.
"holy shit." you whispered. you turned to kakucho, who was stirring something in a pot on the stove.
"do you like cooking?" you asked.
"yes i do." he said. it was his main hobby outside of activities relating to being a gangster.
your eyes fell down to the countertop, where a cookbook was set open with a bunch of vegetables waiting to be prepped.
