"Goddamn, it's really him. And he's still alive too."
"I can't believe it."
"He managed to fix the machine all by himself."
"Out of the way. Jungkook, wake up! JUNGKOOK!"
The distant voices become clearer and I slowly open my eyes when someone slaps my cheek. I see a blurry image of Seokjin as he hovers over me with a worried look and the other guys are standing right behind him. I lazily glance around and understand that I'm back in the lab that I'm so used to. Seokjin grabs my arm and pulls me up to my feet. I wobble a little and everyone runs up to try and support me as we walk over to a chair so I can sit down. They surround me, but nobody dares to speak up first. I study all their faces closely, and I can confirm that I'm really back where I belong. None of them are kids anymore. No teenagers for that matter either.
I pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming, but it's all too real to be a dream. I let out a little laugh.
"Wow, that was wild. I actually went back in time."
"Yes, and you should be glad I'm good at remembering dates, otherwise you would've been stuck there forever," Seokjin snarls. "What the fuck were you thinking going into the machine like that?! I thought I told you to never get close to it without anyone else around! What if you'd ended up in a time where we couldn't help you?"
I can only sigh at his anger. This is definitely the Seokjin I'm used to around here.
"Relax, Hyung, you already knew where I would end up. You were with me basically the whole time."
The other four give him a questioning look and Seokjin makes an uncomfortable face. After a second or so he crosses his arms with a huff.
"I had my assumptions about what would happen, but there's always a chance that the past could change."
I look at the burn on the inside of my arm before nodding.
"Yes, but aside from a few changes, it seems almost everything stayed the same."
That's right. Aside from the burn on my arm, the future doesn't seem any different at all. I was destined to go back in time, since it had technically already happened. Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin and Taehyung are all here, just like when I left. Then that also means that Namjoon's fate has already been sealed.
"What date is it today?" I ask.
"February 10th," Jimin answers. "Come to think of it, doesn't that mean it's Namjoon-hyung's anniversary?"
Everyone goes quiet after he says that. The air in the room gets heavy. He's right. We're in 2018 now, so it's been two years since Namjoon died. It was because of this that I didn't want to go back in the end. He deserves to be here with us. I should've done something while I still could. It's thanks to him that I made it back.
"Come on, guys, we shouldn't think about sad things right now," Hoseok says with a smile. "Jungkook just came back to us. It's practically a miracle!" With his encouragement, everyone eases up and Yoongi even gives me a pat on the back.
"That's right. It's good to have you back, buddy."
"We've been at the lab for like two whole days waiting for you to come back," Taehyung complains. "I'm exhausted."
"It's only been two days? But I was there for weeks..."
"It's not too surprising," Seokjin intervenes. "Everything in the past has already happened. There's no saying that the same amount of time would've passed here."
"But still..." I look at them all, wondering if it's really only been two days while I was there for what felt like an eternity. My gaze eventually stops at Taehyung as I remember something. "You. I'm gonna need to have a talk with you later," I say in a firm tone.
