I wake up really easily when the sun rises. I could barely sleep all night because it's finally time. Today is the 25th of June, the day I'm supposed to go back home. Yesterday I packed all my things (I didn't have much), so I'm all ready to go.
I practically jump out of bed, making sure to tidy up the guest room since it's my last time in here. It's not like I have disliked staying here or anything, I just want to return to the future where I belong. I want to see everyone's faces again. Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and-
A knock on my door takes me out of my thoughts. I open up and see Namjoon standing there with a straight face. He's dressed up nicer than usual, wearing a white button-up shirt with a dark blue vest on top. He has light brown pants and he's even combed his hair to the side. He's looking like a real rich kid, but he's also kinda cute with his big glasses.
"You're awake already, huh?" he says monotonously.
"Yes, today is the day. I couldn't sleep out of excitement. Do you want anything?"
"Not really, just wanted to make sure you hadn't left yet."
A smile spreads on my face.
"Aw, you wanted to say goodbye first? Don't worry, I wouldn't leave without telling you, Hyung."
His cheeks get dusted with a light pink color while he pouts.
"That's not- you know what, forget it. Let's go eat breakfast."
He hurries down the stairs and I make sure to shut the door to the guest room before following him. It's a bit sad to know that I won't be seeing this place again. I also won't... never mind, let's not think about that. Namjoon is already sitting at the table, seemingly waiting for me to feed him.
"Is your mom not home?" I ask while raiding the fridge.
"No, she left a note on the table saying that she had to leave for work. She won't be home until the evening."
I put down milk and a box of cereal on the table before going to grab some bowls and spoons.
"You must've been up for a while already then. The sun is barely out but you're already dressed and stuff. Are you expecting someone?"
"I was hungry," he responds right away.
"Then you could've eaten. Even you know how to make a bowl of cereal."
"Well, yeah but... it's no fun eating alone. Especially when it's your last time here," he mumbles.
I sit down with him at the table and I can't help but to smile at him. Seems like he's gotten pretty used to having company the last week or so. After my conversation with Seokjin at his house, they started hanging out more at school, even going as far as to studying together in the library. It's really nice to see them getting along. They both needed a friend, so I trust that they'll take good care of each other from now on.
"There are still a couple hours left until I need to be at the machine in the forest. Do you want to do something together until then?"
"Like what?" he asks while stuffing his face full of milk.
"Like going for a walk, visiting the park, playing games, watching TV... anything, really."
He thinks about it before answering.
"I'd prefer staying at home," he says. "I don't like leaving the house unattended for too long."
"Okay, we can stay here until it's time to go in that case. I need to be there at twelve, so if we leave at- Wait. Didn't you say that your mom left for work already?"
