Falling in love with Harry Potter was easier for Draco than he had believed to be. But at the same time it was also terrifying, not because of the probability of Harry leaving him in the future but because of what was to come. Riddle was the fear that made him want to tell Harry everything about the deeds his Father had been upto.
Harry had lost his godfather. Draco had lost his favorite cousin. They couldn't lose more people, especially each other, not when they had just tasted each other's love for the first time.
The sun peeked at Draco from behind the trees, making him feel warm under the covers. He shuffled in his bed, mouth bending into a frown. He pushed it off, stretching languidly. He sighed and got up, rubbing his eyes wearily and stalking towards the bathroom. He brushed his teeth lazily, eyes half open, then he took a quick shower and dressed up, not bothering to shave.
Admiring his brand new engagement ring, he scratched at his stubble and made his way towards the lounge.
His hand touched the door frame and then he paused, listening to the voices inside.
"Cissa, will you calm down? It is not a big deal!"
"Bella. You killed Sirius." His mother's voice was taut.
What?
"He deserved it!" Snarled his aunt in fury. Draco felt his heart drop.
No. No. No.
"You murdered your own cousin, Bella. Sirius. Our cousin. Why would you do that?" His mother's voice was pleading and full of desperation.
"Narcissa…" His father tried to butt in but his aunt scoffed. "He was a coward. Refused to join us. He refused to join Tom. My Tom."
Draco closed his eyes and steadied himself. His head was spinning. He felt dizzy.
".....cancel the wedding." He caught those words just as the buzzing in his ears stopped. He heard the thudding of footsteps which belonged to his mum's leaving the lounge from the other door.
"If she even tries. We'll get all of them killed." Bellatrix whispered to his father.
"What if they try something else?"
"Oh don't worry, we have a person among them. They just came back from France some time ago. They will give us every single detail."
"France…?"
"Yeah, we found this poor, helpless little person who was somehow related to the grooms and fed them some cash."
Draco's heart dropped. France?
But only Blaise had…. No. It can't be. Not Blaise, he was his best friend. They had known each for years! He wouldn't betray Draco. He couldn't.
Right?
Without another sound, Draco searched for his mum in the house. They had to do something. They couldn't just sit at the sidelines waiting for another person to be killed.
It was all such a mess.
Riddle wanted the riches. He wanted Potter and Malfoy Corp.. To accomplish that he had staged this arranged marriage between Harry and Draco. But how would that work out? James wouldn't just give over his entire company to Draco, right? He would, obviously, keep it to himself. Harry didn't work there and neither did Draco take any part in the working of Malfoy Corp.. And the biggest problem was Sirius' death, which was sudden and horrifying for everyone, but why was it necessary?
On top of it all was the biggest betrayal. How could Blaise do this to him? He was his friend. His biggest supporter. He trusted him with his life and now he gave up all those years of friendship for just a handful of money?
"Mum!" Draco called for her just as she was about to step out. Her face was grim and dark circles coated the underside of her grey eyes.
"What is it, darling?" She asked.
"I heard everything," Draco whispered, a tear slipping down his cheek, "I can't believe she did that. I hate her so much."
Narcissa looked away, reining her emotions. "We can't show our emotions now, Draco. We need to do something. I need you to listen to me very carefully."
"Mum, wait. Before you say anything, I heard them talking about a spy then sent among us. Blaise, mum, they have sent Blaise to get any information from us."
She looked alarmed, "Blaise? Draco, are you sure?"
"I— I was shocked too, mum. But no matter how many times I think, it always points to him."
He told her about Blaise and the situation he was facing because of his new step-father and mother. That he had been in France recently and was the only person who was close to Draco to know everything that was going on.
She looked even more upset by the moment he finished, "What do you propose we do? I was hoping we'd go to him to book the tickets so we can all escape soon to somewhere far away."
Draco sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, "What about Pansy? I trust her with my life, mum. I know she wouldn't betray me. No matter what."
Narcissa took a deep breath, "Alright. I'll go call her, she'll understand. You go start packing."
Draco nodded, "Then we'll head over to the Potter's together?"
"Absolutely."
Draco turned but she caught his elbow and wrapped him in a hug, "I promise it'll be alright, son. Hang in there." Draco buried his face into her shoulder for a couple moments, enjoying the warmth of her skin and the love she held for him.
He would always admire her strength during the worst of times.
"Be careful," He whispered and they moved apart in sync and left.
Draco stalked to his room in a quick motion. He pulled out a duffle bag and called for Dobby.
"Yes, Master?"
Dobby entered his room with wide eyes. "Is sir attempting to run away again?"
"Yes, Dobby. And this time, I want you to do something." Draco pulled out some of his clothes and placed them in the bag.
"Anything, sir."
"Firstly, you need to go to my mum's room and pack her a bag of clothes. Only comfortable clothes. And put that bag into the trunk of my car." Dobby nodded.
"Then, you need to pack your own bags and get the fuck out of here because it isn't safe anymore."
"Sir?"
"I mean it, Dobby. It is dangerous here and you should get back to your family. Hell, if you can get all the servants to resign and run away. Do that. I can't see anymore people getting hurt."
"Okay sir. Thank you."
Draco passed him a sad smile, "Take care."
"You too, sir." Dobby whispered and slipped out of the room, head bent.
Draco finished packing his clothes and pulled on a pair of comfortable shoes. With his heart in his throat, he clenched his fist tightly.
Here goes nothing.
