Of course Harry looked handsome.
Draco really did forget how beautiful he was and how his eyes crinkled when he flashed a bright smile at Draco.
"Draco! Hi!" Harry said cheerfully and thrusted a particular large bouquet of red roses into his awaiting arms. Harry kissed both his cheeks.
Draco blinked. Harry looked so happy to think that Draco had agreed to this marriage.
"Hi, Harry." He smiled weakly, an embarrassing blush crawling up his neck. Harry offered his hand, "Come on, let's go eat."
Draco nodded and slid his fingers through Harry's. "Okay." Harry's hand was warm and welcoming, it felt nice.
The restaurant was of Draco's liking. It was spacious, elegant and extremely expensive. There was a waiter waiting for them at the entrance. "Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Potter. Please come in." He smiled softly at the two and led them in through the huge glass doors into a wide, spacious room with multiple tables.
Harry tugged him to a stop before the table which sat in the middle of the restaurant. "Uhm Draco?" He whispered in his ear. "If you don't mind, can we book a private table? I'm not really good with crowds." Draco looked at his worried face and agreed with a frown.
"Alright." Draco cleared his throat. "Excuse me, can we have a private table, please?" He said to the waiter.
"Of course, Sir. Follow me." He nodded and walked somewhere to the back of the restaurant and led them to a secluded and quiet room. There were two red plush couches aligned with a table. A small chandelier hung from the ceiling and the room was dimly lit. Draco placed the bouquet beside him as they sat down.
"Here are the menus, a waiter will be with you shortly to take your orders." The waiter left them alone.
They were sitting facing each other. Harry smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry about that, I should have told you earlier."
"It's alright," Draco shook his head, " Do you have agoraphobia?"
"Yeah– kind of." Harry shrugged, "I don't have a good history with crowded areas. My cousin Dudley had once lured me away from our family and left me alone. I cried, fell down and hit my head. My parents found me some time later and took me to the doctor."
"That's fucked up." Draco said before he could think, his eyes widening.
Harry laughed shortly, "It really is."
They decided on what they wanted to eat and soon another waiter came bustling in. Harry ordered his food and let Draco order his own.
Draco fiddled with the tablecloth nervously, he didn't want to be here, he wanted to be in his bed, cuddled up with a good book and a green apple in his hand.
"Hey," Harry said gently and put a hand over his trembling hand. "Everything okay? Do you need water? I knew I shouldn't have told you all that. Not something you share on a first date, eh?" He laughed nervously.
It was then Draco realised that Harry was as nervous as he was. Wait.
Did he say first date?
They were on a date?
"Yeah, I'm alright. Don't worry, Harry." He smiled softly. Harry looked relieved and squeezed his hand tightly. "You know, I really was not expecting for you to agree to marry me after what you told me." He shrugged and tangled their hands tighter together.
"But I'm really, really glad you agreed, Draco. You really don't understand how happy I am."
Guilt poured over him like rainfall. He didn't reply, merely smiling and sipping on the red wine the waiter had poured out for them.
Dinner was served soon and Draco was glad he didn't have to talk much, he spent half the time stuffing his mouth food and nodding along to whatever anecdote Harry told him about his life with his parents and godfathers. He passed a few comments but didn't say much himself.
Harry was a naturally talkative person. He seemed to revel in the attention Draco was giving him. Once they were done, Harry offered to drop him back home in his car.
"I just want to make sure you get home safe." He kissed his knuckles. "Come on."
Draco agreed.
"I'm sorry I didn't let you talk much." Harry blushed as he took a left turn. "My mom says I get excited around the people I care about and don't stop talking."
Draco laughed softly. "It's alright, I don't talk much anyway." Harry passed him a shy smile.
They came to a stop in front of the gate. "Thank you for uhm today." He said.
"I really had fun with you, Draco." Harry smiled, "Can we do this again, sometime? This time I'll let you talk all you want."
"Of course." He agreed reluctantly. "I'd love that." Harry's shoulders relaxed, as if he was expecting a rejection. Neither of them moved.
Was he expecting a kiss? Was Draco supposed to kiss him?
Before anything could happen, Draco leant forward and kissed him softly on the cheek.
"Goodnight, Harry." He whispered and left with the bouquet held closely to his chest.
"Goodnight, Draco." Harry blushed darkly.
