My middle school just got demolished yesterday
And I thought I didn't care, but I did
'Cause the city I grew up in is changing so fast.
Most trees are being cut, but some still last.
We're building houses after houses
Next to supermarkets and restaurants
And the time to change has come for me too.
This version of me doesn't suit me anymore.
I don't recognise myself when I look into the mirror
I don't feel how I used to feel before
'Cause I love being alive, rather than just survive.
In memory of my old self,
I am sorry I couldn't forgive you
I am sorry I couldn't respect you
I am sorry I couldn't love you
Dear old self, now you're free
'Cause I release you.
And probably, I will change again
As everyone and everything does
That's what we are supposed to do
But I love who I am becoming now.
