I look at the suitcases standing in the corner of my closet. They're always there. One is my PSG one, for training camps, away games in the south of France and champions league games. There's a French National Team one too. From the one squad I was in, my debut match, when I tore my ACL. It's there, hoping to be used again.
I sigh, knowing that I won't be using either of those suitcases today. I'm not allowed to. It's not a training camp from either of those teams. This is something I'm doing on my own. Well with my brother and his two friends.
That's right, I did made a decision. I'm coming with them. Two weeks in the French Alpes sounds amazing to be honest. Even if I've got a clause in my contract that forbids me from skiing or snowboarding. I love the snow and I think that it is good to be in my happy place for a bit.
So I go down to the storage unit I own in my building. Trying to find the suitcase I own for private use.
Why did I turn this into such a giant mess?
I scan the small room, my eyes landing on the huge purple suitcase at the back of the room.
Great.
I take a deep breath, before starting to move different items out of the way. Making a path for myself to the suitcase. It takes about half an hour, and a lot of strength to not get distracted, to reach the suitcase.
I take it with me to the apartment, putting the open suitcase on my bed.
What do I need for this?
First things first: work out clothes. I walk into my suitcase throwing in different sets of work out clothes. Sports leggings, football shorts, sports bras, tank tops, football tops and a few sweaters. I grab two sets of trainers and a pair of cleats, secretly hoping there's some kind of pitch I can get some action on.
Next up: winter clothes. Spending winter in the Alpes asks for a suitable wardrobe. I throw the two pairs of skiing pants into the suitcase, knowing that I'll be prepared for whatever the boys throw at me. I also add some skiing shirts and warm sweaters.
Thirdly, I'm adding a few different sets of bikinis to my suitcase. I'm definitely gonna make use of the private pool.
Once I'm satisfied with the different work out related outfits I've thrown into my suitcase, I go to work on different casual clothes. Clothes for dinners, casual clothes for nights in, clothes for going out and a whole lot of pajamas.
I am not sleeping in my underwear, while sharing a cabin with those three.
I throw a couple of books into the suitcase, along with two board games and a deck of cards, so we'll have something different to do. And then I close it, having to sit on it, in order to close it properly.
Looking at my phone, I realise I've got some time to kill before Pierre arrives here. I look around my apartment, realising it could do with a deep cleanse before I leave. There's nothing better than coming home to a clean apartment. With that mindset I start my Spotify playlist and get to cleaning.
I wipe the counter space and tables in my living area, vacuum pretty much every space in the house, change my bed sheets and clean the shower. I'm almost done with the latter when my phone rings.
Pierre
"Hi brother." I say into the phone, laying in the sink on speaker.
"I'm in your parking garage, can you let me in when I get up." Pierre says through the phone and I nod in respons, but soon realising that a simple nod doesn't get him into the apartment.
"Yeah, I'll let you in." I tell him, before pressing end on the call. I rinse the walls of the shower, before putting away the cleaning supplies.
I then go into my bedroom, and quickly put away the heavily and packed suitcase. Pierre doesn't know I've decided to come with, and I was planning on letting him sweat a little. I put the suitcase in a corner of my walk-in closet, behind my football suitcases and pray he won't notice. Once I've put the suitcase away, there's a knock on the door.
