Charles' POV
"How does this work again?" I ask sitting down on the couch in Pierre's hotel room. The both of us in Bahrain for preseason testing.
"She probably already had the phone call, but isn't allowed to tell anyone until the official announcement." Pierre explains, we're about 10 minutes away of the official French team announcement. Amelie is at training and we're here hoping she'll be invited for the training camp. It would be her first one after the injury.
"So she already knows?" I wonder, scrolling through Instagram hoping someone has accidentally leaked the roster already. If I'm getting this anxious for a roster for two friendlies, how nervous will I be if she actually has a chance to go to the World Cup?
"Most likely, yes. Haven't you talked to her about it?" Pierre asks.
"She seemed nervous about it, I felt it was better to stay away from the topic." I explain simply.
"Yeah I noticed it too. I thought it was about the fact that you two went public earlier this week." Pierre adds simply.
A few days after the disasterous dinner party at my mom's, I had spend most of the night on the phone with Amelie. Lots of tears shed, but in the end we decided that we should go public because it is what we want.
"Well that's a whole other story." I point out.
"I heard something about keeping you and Arthur away from each other for a while?" I sigh deeply, my mind wondering off to the moment my mom locked me and Arthur in one of the bedrooms.
"You two are not getting out of there until you speak things through." My mom yelled from the other side of the door she's just locked.
"Great." Arthur mutters, sitting down against the wall. He's clearly not wanting to talk to me.
"I'm sorry okay." I tell him, sitting down against the wall across from him.
"I'm sure you are." He snorts, twisting his phone in his hands.
"I really am Arthur."
"No you're not!" He yells, his voice trembling. "You wouldn't be sleeping with her if you did." I flinch at his words. "Just tell me. You've always hated me and you're threatened or something by me which is why you decided to fuck my ex. The ex that almost literally broke my heart, the one I still love."
My heart sinks as I hear his words. He still loves her? "I don't feel threatened by you. I adore you Arthur. You're my younger brother. I hope you achieve the best." My mind is going crazy trying to find the right words to say to him. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I didn't mean for this to happen, but it just happened." I take another deep breath. "I am so sorry Arthur, but I need you to know that we're serious about this. We're together, and I wanted to tell you this in person. I wanted to let you know, get your chance to process it all. You don't have to forgive me right now, you don't have to forgive me at all. I'll give you whatever time you need, but I would like my brother back." A tear escapes my eye as the words leave my lips.
Arthur stays silent for a while, the words clearly finding a way to his mind. "I won't ever forgive you! I don't ever want to see you again." He yells, knocking on the door rapidly screaming at my mom to let him out. She does, knowing he'll get too angry and will probably break the door out the frame if she doesn't.
It was the last I've seen of Arthur, Lorenzo went after him right after that. He had to do that, as he explained earlier. He had to show Arthur that he isn't alone in all this. Lorenzo did talk to me about Arthur. Telling him that this trying to talk was to early. I still felt very disappointed though. I had hoped he wanted to talk, or at least was willing to listen to what I had to say.
