"Are you cold?" Jimmy asked Amy as she shivered from the rain pouring down heavily on both of them. They were in an alleyway just outside a club, the noise could be heard all the way outside. Jimmy had a cigarette in his mouth he was trying to light. No surprise, it didn't work because it had gotten damp from the rain.
Out of frustration, he flicked the cigarette and it landed on the wet ground.
Amy nodded to his question, "Yeah."
"Here." Jimmy took off his already soaked coat and put it over her.
"T-thanks."
They both stood in front of the backdoor, there was a red neon sign with the words 'Jirate-inn' on top of it.
They had both come outside to get a breather as the club was packed to the brim.
Amy was a college student at New York University and had just decided to unwind for the weekend. She was a bookworm, a nerd if you will. That was what everyone saw her as, especially when they found out she was studying chemical engineering.
She didn't know the guy she was with. She had never been to a club, that night was her first night, she had met him just five minutes ago when he had come up to her and had asked for her name and he had told her his.
Amy took a moment to look at his features; he was tall, at least 6'2, he had a boyish look with baby brown curls. The most attractive feature about him were his green eyes. They shined so brightly even in the dark alleyway. Amy's heart raced a little bit but she distracted herself from it by focusing her attention on something else.
He was wearing a white shirt with blue stripes on a pair of blue jeans, he had three of his shirt bottoms open and she could see the skin underneath.
Amy looked away. What was she even doing there, at a club no less?
She should be in her dorm room studying for the test she had tomorrow.
People had always told her she was boring, that she was anti-social. Just this once, she wanted to prove them wrong.
Amy turned a little from her companion and looked ahead, taxis still roamed the street. She could easily find a ride home, all she had to do was leave.
"Hey." Amy heard the soft voice behind her and she turned. Jimmy was staring at her with worried eyes, his green eyes looked intense and his hand was lightly touching her shoulder.
"Are you okay?"
Subtly, Amy shrugged his hand off. "U-Um, yeah."
Noticing she was uncomfortable with the proximity, he gave her space. "It's alright." He paused for a moment before speaking again.
"I didn't expect it to rain this heavily, do you wanna go back inside and maybe dance?"
Amy looked at him surprised like he'd grown two heads. "Of course not, we're soaking wet. Besides, I'm tired, I just wanna go home. I shouldn't even be here." Amy said the last part under her breath but he had caught it.
His eyes seemed intrigued as he stared at her.
"If you hated this place so much, then why come?"
Amy let out a breath, almost as if wondering that herself. "You could say I was experimenting, and I've gotten all the data I needed." She gave him a fake smile and turned to leave.
She had taken about four steps before she paused and realized she was still wearing his coat. She took it off and turned around and gave it to him. "Here, thank you."
