A/N: The following disclaimer has been added to the book's description: "While it was my intention to make this story as realistic as possible legally speaking, for sake of the plot, some things that happen in this book will be different than how they would happen in real life." Once the main part where this is true comes, I will mention this disclaimer again so you know how important me saying that is. This just shows you that I already have SO much planned out. Y'all are not ready XD. Also, there is another important LONG author's note at the end.
In the morning, Beomgyu had heard the faint sound of his name being said, but no matter how much Taehyun tried, he wouldn't wake up. He didn't push it though, completely understanding that Beomgyu needed to sleep, so he left him alone for a while.
When he finally did wake up close to noon, it took him a second to remember where he was, but he sighed in relief when he remembered. He was staying with a cop to be protected. He was safe.
It was going to be okay for now.
He cautiously, quietly walked downstairs, jumping when he heard the sound of multiple tiny objects hitting glass. "Taehyun?" He asked, peeking around the corner to the kitchen.
"Hey, do you want cereal? We have..." he turned around to look in the cabinet. "We just have cocoa puffs right now." He gave an apologetic smile and Beomgyu walked over, seeing that the loud noise was the sound of cocoa puffs being poured into a bowl.
"Sure. Thank you." He sat at the island while Taehyun made him a bowl and held his fist up to rest his cheek on.
"We'll go shopping later. And go to your dorm. And everything else." He chuckled and slid the bowl over to him. "I'm sorry. I've never learned how to cook."
Beomgyu just stared at him for a moment and then slowly trailed his eyes down to his breakfast. "Me neither. It's okay. I like cocoa puffs."
Taehyun smiled and they both ate in awkward silence. It was unfortunate that it was awkward, but Taehyun wasn't initiating any conversation and Beomgyu sure as hell didn't want to. While the house was nice and he felt somewhat safe, everything about the situation he was in obviously made him nervous. The events that happened just yesterday were still floating around in his mind, upsetting him every time he thought too hard about them.
The fact that he was in so much danger that he had to be protected didn't help at all. And while he trusted the Chief in what he said about Taehyun... he didn't seem like much of a fighter. Plus, he looked like he was Beomgyu's age. What kind of experience did he have to be called the best officer?
While the guy was washing their dishes, Beomgyu looked down at the granite countertop and mustered up the courage to ask him the question. "How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-one. I was born February 5th, 2002." Beomgyu's eyes widened. How was Taehyun only twenty-one? Beomgyu was born in March of 2001, making Taehyun eleven months younger than him. "Are you worried because you're older than the person protecting you? It's okay."
Beomgyu frowned at the thought that it might have hurt Taehyun's feelings. "I was just wondering... but yeah, it is okay. It's not like I'm going to be ungrateful for you just because I'm older. You seem like you might be pretty mature beneath your humor." He smiled for the first time since the crime and noticed Taehyun stop moving for a second.
"Yeah, maybe I am." He smiled too and walked around the island. "Okay, I'll explain the rules later. For now, we're gonna get dressed, go to your dorm, go shopping for food and..." he put his finger to his chin and looked up like he was thinking. "...maybe go shopping at the mall for clothes and video games with the government's money." He walked to the stairs and Beomgyu watched him in disbelief. "We also have to go to the station for a few hours because they love me and need me there."
