A/N: I've said it before, and I need to remind myself too that this will not be a long story. There isn't a lot of plot to get through, so it will probably be done very soon (like 10-15 more chapters).

Date: June 1st

"Come on, it'll be fun! We can celebrate the first day of pride month, as well as your official late acceptance into your schooling for your PhD."

"Your gayness is showing," Soobin said, earning a slap on his arm from Kai. "Ow! It's not my fault you use pride month as an excuse to go do something insane every year."

"It's not just pride month. Beomgyu's going to get a very serious degree and that's worth celebrating!"

Beomgyu just chuckled at everything they were saying and shook his head. "I haven't gotten it yet. It's not worthy of a celebration yet."

Kai rolled his eyes at Soobin's dumb face and thanked Yeonjun who came with their milkshakes. "Come on. Yeonjun wants to go, right?"

"Go where?" He replied, draping his arm over the back of Kai's chair and sipping on the treat.

"The quarry. The one in the forest where people always used to go. I've heard it's really nice there. People just stopped going because a few people, who couldn't swim, drowned. It was just people who couldn't swim though. It's not dangerous to us athletic types."

His eyes narrowed at Soobin who gave him the most offended look possible. "I'm athletic," the older replied in agitation.

Beomgyu and Yeonjun both started laughing and the former grabbed Soobin's hand to calm him. "Anyway, I don't think it's a good idea. The depth of the quarry is pretty crazy."

"You can jump off of one of the lower ledges if it scares you. Come on," Kai whined. "Soobin wants to go too. He's just being an asshole because I mentioned the words "pride month" one time!"

"You're gay!"

"So are you!"

They all started laughing hysterically and tables near them were staring. Once Yeonjun finally calmed down, he looked out the window and thought about it.

"You're the tie-breaker," Beomgyu said, staring at him. "I'll go if you all decide to, but I'm jumping off a lower ledge."

Yeonjun nodded. "We need some fun in our lives."

The other two smiled in excitement and Beomgyu sighed, dreading the idea of it already.

***

It was understandable for any sane person to be scared. Beomgyu had walked down some stairs to a lower ledge of the cliff, and his friends already jumped off the highest one. They were all in the water below, chanting for him to jump.

He's faced a lot of horrifying things in his life. He's witnessed a murder, was kidnapped, almost watched Rosé get killed, and got a phone call that his father was shot. None of them compared to the feeling of willingly doing something that could kill you if done incorrectly. If he jumped a little too weakly, he would hit the rocks at the bottom of the wall instead of the water. If he landed wrong, he could seriously injure himself.

Why did I come up here?

"Are you afraid of anything?"

Beomgyu's eyes that had been squeezed shut blew open. The voice in the memory was one he could pinpoint immediately, and his shoulders relaxed a bit.
