*The same day*
Date: June 19th
"What's there to use this computer for now? It's not like it was hard to steal, but I want to use something so powerful for something."
"We can sell it. Or hand it over to the military for a reward. It can't be you though. The military already knows it was you. Right Taehyun?"
"They most likely do. One of the other captains specializes in burglary, and she knows how difficult it must have been for someone to infiltrate that room. She probably told them that you're the person most likely to have done it Kami."
Kami sighed and continued hooking the other computer up to her laptop. She only stole it to see where Taehyun had disappeared to and if he needed help, but now he was here with an interesting story involving Daegu's Chief of Police.
"Please get off the table and sit in your seat," Seojun said, sipping on his wine and staring at Kami who was sitting on top the table between him and Taehyun. "You don't need to sit on our meeting table."
"It's more fun up here." She looked at Seojun and groaned before getting down and sitting in her seat at the round table. "Taehyun, why did that chief let you go anyway?"
Taehyun had already come up with everything to tell them that would make sense. "I already explained it for the most part. I told him what I'm doing is to protect Beomgyu. He and his wife have always been super protective of him."
"He knows that your mom was involved in the car accident that killed his son, right?" Seojun asked.
"He does. Apparently, one of our own in Daegu was captured, and told them a lot of information like that to shorten his sentence. I managed to convince him that Beomgyu would be dead now if not for me, and he let me go on the promise I would continue protecting Beomgyu and his mom. They're both on the No Harm List, so it'll be easy to keep my promise. I even told him he can confirm that fact with Beomgyu."
Seojun nodded. "It is odd though. To let someone so dangerous go free just to keep your own family safe."
"Cops can selfishly choose their family or loved ones over justice. I've seen it plenty of times."
*Two years ago*
"Chin up. Look more presentable for your first day of training camp."
"I just don't understand. You know I'm a master at every physical challenge you can throw at me. Why do I need to train? Why can't I just be a cop already? I've been waiting for two years-"
Chief Kim stopped walking and turned around to place a finger over Taehyun's lips. "We've discussed this. You will not utter a word about what happened before you were a cop, understood?" Taehyun huffed and nodded. "Every cop goes through required training. It won't be too bad."
Taehyun looked at everyone in the shooting range and sighed. "Won't they be suspicious if I hit a bullseye every time immediately?"
"No. Because you won't hit the bullseye everytime. Make sure to miss every once in a while."
He walked away and Taehyun looked at the instructor in the shooting range, giving him a small smile. Even if the idea of training was stupid because he was already great at everything, Chief Kim was right. He needed to do everything required to be a cop, and he needed to do it with a smile on his face.
*Present day*
Chief Kim always did things like that. Until Taehyun finally got all his confidence and self-restraint back, he had to keep being reminded not to mention anything about his past. It got harder when he became friends with Rosé and Taeyong, but the chief was always there to fix his mistakes.
