9. Morality Talk

*A week later*

"Thank you for letting Beomgyu come over," Kai said, excitedly getting the controllers for his Wii while his friends and Taehyun crowded in the living room. "We haven't hung out in so long."

Taehyun sat on a beanbag chair on the floor with the snacks he brought and nodded. "No problem. Beomgyu has been begging me nonstop-"

"Hey!" Beomgyu complained, making them all laugh at his embarrassment.

Kai got the game set up and handed Soobin, Yeoniun, and Beomgyu a controller before handing the last one to Taehyun. "What are you doing?" He asked. "You play. It's your game."

"I can't let a guest be excluded."

"But I've never played." He tried handing it back to him, but Kai just shook his head.

"More of a reason for you to play now."

He didn't let Taehyun protest further and sat down on the couch while Yeonjun turned Mario Kart on. "You've never played the Wii?"

"No." It was kind of humorous that Taehyun was gonna play Mario Kart now when he was dressed like that. They were all still weirded out since Taehyun was wearing his disguise, but Beomgyu had assured them that it was really just a safety measure. One could look at him right now and think he wouldn't want to play such a game. And at first, he didn't want to.

But when he excitedly picked Princess Daisy, they all started laughing. "You seem like you want to play now," Beomgyu said, still giggling as he picked Toad. "Do you play any video games?"

"Not really, no. When I wanted to buy you an Xbox, it would have been just for you. I do play some games on my phone though."

"You wanted to buy him an Xbox?" Soobin asked in shock.

When Taehyun explained that argument to all of them, they were wondering why Beomgyu didn't accept the console and took longer to start the game than they wanted.

"I just can't accept a gift that big."

They all rolled their eyes and started playing, and Kai had to help Taehyun with the controls for a while. Even though Kai helped him, he ended up in last place while the others were all in the top three.

"You kept running into everything. Do you not have a steady hand?" Yeonjun asked playfully. "You're a cop, aren't you?"

"I mean, I don't have a reason to have steady hands." He was almost pouting.

"But what if you have to shoot someone?" Soobin asked.

They all looked at him curiously, clearly anxious to know. "I don't shoot people. I obviously have a gun, but I'm capable of using less lethal weapons to stop dangerous people. Like a taser."

"Can we see your gun?" Kai asked.

Taehyun shook his head and they all groaned. It's not like a weapon meant for killing was cool. In his time as a cop, he hasn't had to kill anyone yet. He spent weeks training with a taser and has safely and effectively stopped and restrained every person he's tased.

He looked back at the screen and saw that he had zero points so far. "This game isn't fun."

"You're no fun," Beomgyu complained when Taehyun handed his controller to Kai. "You would think you would be a gamer. Or at least like Mario."

When he looked at Taehyun though, he saw that the man was just calmly staring at the screen, no sign of a smile or amusement on his face. His eyes were covered, but Beomgyu saw the thin line of his lips that were usually curled into a smirk or a smile.
