10. Commander of Thievery

"You can never just do things by yourself. You always need my help, don't don't Hyung?"

Taehyun was looking at the pictures on his computer screen that he took at the horrific crime screen. He went there, observed everything, concluded that it was not the doing of the Black Reaper, and was now analyzing past cases that could be related to it.

"Have we gotten ahold of the man's family?" He spun in his chair and saw Taeyong looking like he was about to pass out at his computer.

"Not yet. Can you call Rosé? I'm probably gonna be here all night. I want her to bring me breakfast."

Taehyun turned back to his screen to continue reading an article about a woman in Seoul who's head was bashed in a few years ago. "My phone is dead. You had me taking a million photos and videos. That kills phone batteries, you know." Upon thinking of it, he got up to take his phone off the charger and saw that Beomgyu called him.

Why? He called him back, only for it to go to voicemail. After a few more times, he concluded that he was probably asleep. But Beomgyu called him at around 2 a.m.. Again, why?

The phone on Taeyong's desk started ringing and he groaned before picking it up. "Captain Lee speaking. Yes, he's with me. Why?" Taehyun looked at him curiously and Taeyong's eyes widened. "Thank you. We'll get on it right away." He hung up and started typing away on his keyboard. "Beomgyu's friend Soobin called 112 in a panic. He said they were supposed to meet at a café, but Beomgyu never arrived."

Taehyun immediately sat at his computer and called the operator that Taeyong was just talking to. "What café was it?" He got into their security footage, but didn't see anything outside. He then got into the footage on the entire street, clenching his jaw when he saw Beomgyu get dragged into a car. "Thank you," he said before hanging up and getting in touch with every patrol car in that area. "Everyone, this is Captain Kang. The current witness under my supervision was abducted by Black Reaper down the street of the Purple Café. The vehicle is a black 2014 Honda Civic. License plate JSK 2334. They headed South going approximately 62 mph. There are cables holding their back hatch closed. That's where they put him."

Taeyong brought up security footage of the nearby streets. "They went down 18th Street as well. I can't figure out where they went from there."

Taehyun slammed his hands on his desk before grabbing his phone and searching for Beomgyu's location. His location was just where he was abducted though, and he threw his phone on the floor. "Fuck!"

"Sir, is Captain Park not there today? We're usually under her command," he heard an officer say over his comms.

"No, she's not. Please help me right now. We need to find him." Multiple "Yes sir"'s were heard and Taehyun thanked all of them. "Captain Lee said the vehicle went down 18th Street, but that was the most recent footage he could get. Make sure you have your sirens and your lights off as you look for the vehicle. And wait for me when you find them. I'll be there as soon as I can."

Beomgyu groaned in agony, both from being sick and being punched. He sat on the dirty floor of whatever this building was, his hands tied up behind his back and a tie in his mouth. There were five men in the room who all wore masks, but all had the scythe on their neck.

It was dimly lit and dirty, and he felt like passing out again just from the environment.

"I say we kill him now-"

"Are you an idiot? The boss said she wants him alive. That's not how Seojun would want it, but that's how she does. You know Commander Jeon. She doesn't just kill."
