BRIE

I walked down the stairs with my father following behind me. I saw my sister with my mother whispering, but they stopped, and Larissa turned around and smiled.

I walked over as she opened her arms to me and pulled me to her to hug me. Larissa and I are close, and she is one of my best friends.

I pulled back from her and stepped back, taking her in. She looked incredible.

Larissa was always a beauty in school, with her blonde hair and big blue eyes. Her legs were long, making her stand at five foot eight.

Larissa and I were sisters, but you wouldn't think so by how we looked. Larissa looked like my mother, with blonde hair and blue eyes, whereas I looked like my father, with brown hair and blue eyes. As for my height, I am sure they gave it all to Larissa as I stood at five foot five. I was the shortest out of us all.

"Beautiful as ever," I said, looking back at my sister.

Larissa beamed.

"Thanks," she said. "You don't half look good yourself. You look like a supermodel."

I frowned.

I knew I was slim, but I had curves. I only recently looked good due to my lost appetite due to the breakup I have been through, which no one knows about.

"Sure," I muttered. "So, how are the plans for the wedding? Are you ready for Sunday?"

They were getting married in two days.

Larissa smiled.

"Everything is set," she said. "Your dress is at the store, so you can try it on and make sure we don't have to take it in, but the way you look at the moment, we will have to."

I stared at her, but her smile never left.

Her eyes stayed on me for a moment as she continued. "Everything is ready for the weekend," she said. "It's a shame that Hugh couldn't make it."

I gave her a slight nod, even though I felt sick at mentioning his name.

Realizing I had to say something, all I could come up with was 'yeah' without anyone knowing something was up.

I heard footsteps and knew it was Dad. I didn't look at him; he could see right through me. I was too much like him, so he knew the signs when something was up with me.

"So, what are the plans for this evening?" asked mum, not noticing anything. I knew the wedding was all on her mind, as every time I spoke to her on the phone, that's all she talked about.

I looked between Larissa and Mum, who smiled, but Larrisa spoke.

"Well, Dominic and his parents are having a meal tomorrow evening as Kade is home," she said, making my stomach tie itself in knots at the mere mention of his name.

I could feel my mouth go dry suddenly.

Kade was coming home.

I knew I shouldn't be thinking about him. It has been five years, but he was the only one who could make me feel things. Everything felt right with him.

Five years is a long time to be hung up on someone, right?

Hugh and I were good together, but there was a nagging doubt that there was always something between Kade and me, something that needed to be finished or even started.

"So, tonight," Larissa said, pulling me back from my thoughts. I looked at her as she smiled.

"I am all yours," she said. "Dominic will be here after work, and we can all catch up on what's new in Brie's life."
