BRIE
The car was warm after a few minutes of Kade putting the heating on.
The dress I was wearing was stuck to every part of my body and damp.
I felt Kade's eyes on me the entire time.
I tried to wrap my head around everything he had said to me moments ago, about his feelings and the lies that Rachel had said. I didn't know whether to believe him.
"You okay?" Kade asked, making me look over at him.
I gave him a slight nod.
"I'm okay," I muttered. "I don't want to go back to my house."
Kade's eyes softened.
"You can stay at my parents..." he said, but I cut him off. "I don't want to go back there either. Too much went on there, and I don't want to deal with anyone, especially my mum." I didn't want to go back to either house as I didn't want to feel sorry for myself or be alone.
I knew mum would be there and not at the house as that's where the wedding was being held. After what Rachel said, I washed my hands regarding my mum. I was sick of feeling like I was nothing to her.
Kade placed his hand on my arm, pulling me from my thoughts.
"You don't have to do anything," he said. "And I have the perfect place for you to stay. No one will know where you are."
I stared at him, wondering where this place was.
"Okay," I whispered, making him smile.
"Don't look so scared," he said, turning in his seat. "I won't murder you."
I couldn't help but laugh.
"I didn't think you would," I said, giving him a smile.
Kade nodded and placed his seatbelt back on.
"Buckle up," he said. "It's out of town."
I said nothing, only grateful for him to be doing this. I placed my seat belt on and leaned back in the seat.
Kade started the engine and made sure the heaters were up high. I felt them on my legs as he drove away.
I stared out the window. I had no clue where I was going, but I felt relaxed. I didn't know if it was knowing I wouldn't have to face mum or the fact I was with Kade, but I felt safe.
The drive was quiet, but I felt my eyes close at the vibration of the drive and nodded off.
I heard the radio being switched on and Kade humming along to each song, but I didn't dare to open my eyes.
After what felt like ages, I felt a hand on my arm and a gentle shake, making me jump.
I looked back to see Kade smiling.
"We are here," he muttered, looking away and ahead of me.
I moved in my seat and looked out the window.
My eyes went wide when I spotted a lovely house.
"Whose house is this?" I asked, my eyes never leaving it.
"Mine," Kade said, making me look back at him in surprise.
"Yours?" I asked.
Kade nodded.
"I got a job around the corner and bought this place when I learned where I was working was going to be my permanent position," he said, looking at me.
I nodded and looked back at the house.
