Elizabeth Short, born on the 29th of July 1924, died on either the 14th or 15th of January 1947, she was 23 years old when she died, known posthumously as the Black Dahlia, she was an American woman who was found murdered in the Leimert Park neighbourhood of Los Angeles on the 15th of January 1947, her case became highly publicised due to the gruesome nature of the crime, which included mutilation of her corpse, which was bisected at her waist.

A native from Boston, Massachusetts, Elizabeth spent her early life in New England (six states in the U.S North East; Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island & Vermont) and she also spent time in Florida before relocating to California, where her father lived, it's commonly held that Elizabeth was an aspiring actress, though she had no known acting credits or jobs during her time in Los Angeles, she would acquire the nickname of the Black Dahlia posthumously, as newspapers of that period of time often nicknamed particularly lurid crimes; the term have have originated from a film noir murder mystery, The Blue Dahlia, released in 1946, after the discovery of her body, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) began an extensive investigation that produced over 150 suspects but yielded no arrests.
