Reluctantly, I followed Will Solace, my sister, and Annabeth to the infirmary. I wished that it was just Will and I, alone, so I could talk to him, because right now, the only interactions the two of us were making were awkward glances at each other. It's not that we were fighting or anything, our breakup was neutral. I had been moving into the mortal world, and we'd both decided that a long distance relationship wouldn't work out. The problem was, we were both happy to see each other, but didn't know what to do or say, or where we stood. Was I supposed to hug him? Shake his hand? Do one of those weird chest bumps like Percy and Jason do? It's was just all so complicated!

After another minute of strolling through Camp Half-Blood, we reached the infirmary, and Will gestured for Hazel and Annabeth to sit on the two empty beds on the left side of the room, where an open window showed the view of Long Island Sound. "So Hazel, let's start with you," he said. "I heard about your accident and how you were unconcious after. Now I know the mortal doctors said you were okay, but they don't always do the best job, so I'm just going to double check."

I sat in a rocking chair near Annabeth, and watched as Will examined the arm Hazel had a cast on. I still couldn't believe my sister got into a car accident. What would my life be like if she'd died? I hope I never have to find out. Just as Will was almost finished with Hazel, the infirmary door burst open.

A tall, sickly skinny and pale man, around 23 I guessed, entered the room and turned to me, a look of pure hatred on his face. Unfortunately, I recognized him.
