muggle au; draco and hermione don't know each other, but go to the same school (aka Hogwarts). Hogwarts is a university, a college. so they're in their 20s. hermione is friends with pansy, and pansy never hung out with the "slytherins"
Hermione walked down the rows of books, looking for her favorite section. She had a specific book in mind. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. As popular as the series was, she still hadn't read it yet. And Hermione loved Greek mythology.
She walked into the Greek mythology section, and much to her surprise, she found another person scanning the shelves as well. He had platinum blond hair, and was extremely pale. But he was slightly attractive. And even more knowing he was looking for a book.
Men are always more attractive when they read.
She made her way farther down the shelf, and the boy caught her eye and gave her a smile. Hermione nearly tripped with how beautiful it was. She gave him a small smile back, and turned away before he could catch a glimpse of her bright red face.
She looked up and down the shelf, and the cover caught her eye. She found it. The only downside was that it was placed on the very top shelf. A shelf she couldn't read, thanks to her height.
She crossed her arms and tapped her foot, glaring at the book, as if hoping her withering glare would scare it into falling down.
She heard someone clear their throat, and she whipped her head to its owner.
"Do you need help?" The platinum blond asked.
As much as Hermione hated asking for help, she knew she didn't want to get the help from a worker, and have to deal with their judgmental stares, so she nodded.
The platinum blond was much taller than her. While Hermione was only five foot three, the platinum blond had to be at least six foot one, maybe two.
She watched him get the book down for her, and look at the cover.
"You're into Percy Jackson, too?" He asks her.
She met his eyes. They were the color of a thunderstorm. "Uh, no. This is my first time reading Percy Jackson, actually. I have a newfound obsession with Greek mythology.
"Really? Same. These days it seems as if you can never meet someone who likes Greek mythology."
Hermione laughed. "Thank you for helping me with my book."
He smiled. "Anything for a fellow Greek mythology fan."
Her heart was racing at his smile. The boy wasn't handsome. He was beautiful. Like a real life Adonis.
"I didn't catch your name," he says.
Hermione was internally dancing. This cute boy wanted to know her name?! As if today could get any better.
"It's Hermione. Hermione Granger. And yours?"
"Draco Malfoy. Your name is beautiful, by the way."
Hermione's cheeks flushed red. "Thanks. My mum named me."
"She made a great decision." Draco Malfoy grinned. "What school are you from?"
"Hogwarts."
He looked at her, obviously shocked. "Holy shit, really? That's where I go!"
Hermione looked at him in disbelief. "Seriously?"
"Yeah! Dead serious! I'm shocked I haven't run into you."
"Hogwarts is quite a big school." Hermione commented.
Draco shrugged. "Still. Shocked I haven't seen someone as beautiful as you at Hogwarts."
