The Stand-In Girlfriend

muggle au (yeah i know it seems im doing a lot of these, but why not?). hermione works for a company that provides stand-in girlfriends and wives for many reasons. my inspiration was the movie 'the wedding date.' happy reading <3

"So, your name is Draco Malfoy?" The girl's voice asked over the phone.

"Yes. I'm attending a wedding. My ex is the maid of honor. As pathetic as it sounds, I want to make her jealous." Draco confessed.

"Mr. Malfoy, there is nothing pathetic about wanting to make your ex jealous. I've had to make many exes jealous. Think of me as your stand-in girlfriend." The girl said. Draco could practically hear her smiling over the phone.

"I didn't catch your name."

"I didn't throw it, but it's Hermione Granger."

Draco laughed. "Well, hello, Hermione Granger."

"What is your ex's name? Are there any certain jealousy tactics you want me to use?" Hermione asked.

"Her name is Pansy Parkinson. And, uh, I didn't know there was more than one?" Draco said, sitting down at the window seat in his apartment.

"Well, Mr. Malfoy, I guess I'll have to educate you on the jealousy tactics. First, I'm just there. I don't say a word to her, but I'll make sure to announce myself as your wonderful girlfriend. Second, I could show not tell. I'll show everyone that you're my boyfriend, such as kissing, cuddling, the usual. Third, I could go up to her, and start talking about how amazing you are, and that she's missing out. Sorry for the info dump."

"Okay, yeah, that was a lot of information. Uh, I guess the show rather than tell should work. She doesn't get jealous easy."

Hermione snorted. "Mr. Malfoy, you obviously know nothing about girls. They always get jealous. Some just know how to hide it better than others."

"How does your boyfriend react to this stuff? Your job, I mean." Draco asked. He knew it was a blunt question, but he was curious.

"My boyfriend is nonexistent. Whenever I tell a man that I work as a stand-in girlfriend, they bolt. And lying isn't my strong suit. Even though I tell them all we do is kiss. No feelings attached. And no sex. You pay extra for that."

"I thought sex was against the rules for a stand-in girlfriend."

"Girls always find a way to go around the rules. The updated rule book technically says no free sex. That's why we charge." Hermione informed him.

"Have you ever been paid extra for sex? By another male as a stand-in girlfriend?" Draco asked.

"Yes, now stop asking about my sex life. That's not what's important. I need to meet you and get to know you better, personally."

"Okay, how about we meet tomorrow?" Draco asked, checking his calendar.

"Tomorrow sounds lovely. See you." The line went dead.

Draco fixed the collar of his shirt, and opened the door to the coffee shop. There was no one else in the shop, so he assumed Hermione wasn't there yet. He made himself comfortable at a corner table when he heard the door open.

A girl with brunette hair stepped in. She looked around and then her eyes landed on Draco. She smiled and walked over to him. She was wearing a pair of ripped jeans, and a red tang top. Her converse matched the red on her tang top.

Draco couldn't deny that she was beautiful. And by the looks of it, that was all natural. Not a speck of makeup seemed to be on her face.

"Are you Draco Malfoy?" She asked.
