Hitoshi felt a strange but strong urge to launch himself out of the window at that moment. It sounded way better than standing in the middle of his parents and half-naked high school crush, but here he was!
His papa looked shocked, his dad looked amused, and his sister had an annoying smug smile on her face. Denki simply looked like a deer caught in headlights.
The silence was suffocating, but Hitoshi took a deep breath and braced himself.
"This is not what it looks like."
The first to speak was his dad who, despite seeming stoic, made Hitoshi get goosebumps.
"Really? What does it look like, Hitoshi? Mind elaborating?"
Hitoshi glared at his dad, but before he could answer Hizashi butted in.
"Nope! We have a kid here! So no elaboration is needed!"
Hitoshi could feel his cheeks burn
"Papá, it is nothing like that! Denki is simply staying here for a little bit. Nothing of whatever you are thinking happened."
Hitoshi bit his lip and prayed to whatever entity was out there to have his parents drop it.
"Is that so?" Shouta gave Denki a questioning look.
"Umm… yeah, teach. Nothing weird happened. Everything is gucci."
Denki gave Shouta his signature finger guns and a wink, which only made Hitoshi want to jump out that window even more.
"So we aren't interrupting anything?"
Hitoshi glared at his dad once again. He could act all cold and stoic but he never missed an opportunity to make fun of Hitoshi.
"Nope! Nothing to interrupt! I was just taking a shower! Cause- y'know… I shower, but not cause we were doing anything!"
Hitoshi covered his face with his hand, embarrassed. Denki was rambling… and he was just making the situation worse.
"Not that you would interrupt even if we were, but we were not! We don't-"
"Go put on a shirt, Denki."
Hitoshi kept his face covered, and didn't even look at Denki when he spoke.
"Yep! You are right! I'll do that!"
Denki lost no time and left in a hurry.
Hitoshi finally built up the courage and faced his family. They all had shit-eating grins on their faces as they stared at him.
"Sooo did my big bro finally ask Denki out?" His sister jumped next to him, looking up at him with her big, red, and prying eyes
"No."
Hitoshi scowled, annoyed.
"Are you going to continue standing at the entrance or are you going to come in?"
Hizashi shrugged and walked up to the kitchen, beginning to prep things for dinner.
"No need to get moody, little listener! We just want the best for you and are happy that you are making advances!"
Hitoshi sighed.
"There are no advances. He is staying here while his apartment is ready, because he is moving out of the apartment with his, recently, ex-fiancee."
Shouts hummed, thoughtful, as he walked over and sat down.
"Yes, we heard about that."
"All of the news are talking about it!" Eri shouted with a smile.
Hitoshi flicked Eri gently on her forehead.
"You are not supposed to be happy about it."
Eri pouted and mumbled, "I wasn't…"
"Then, nothing is going on?"
"No."
"Nothing? Like not even a tiny bit?"
Hitoshi ignored her and went over to the kitchen, helping his papa with dinner. After a few minutes of small talk, which mostly consisted of his parents harassing him with masked questions while he gave monosyllabic answers, Denki finally appeared.
To Hitoshi's relief, he was fully clothed this time.
He seemed nervous and uncomfortable as he took a seat. He fidgeted with his fingers timidly, which Hitoshi thought was cute but kept that comment to himself. He will not give his sister more things to blackmail him with.
"So, How's everything, little listener? I see that your agency is going great!"
Denki looked at Hizashi, a bright smile forming on his face.
"Yeah! We are doing awesome! Katsuki and Eijirio are really cool!"
Hizashi and Denki began chatting at a speed of 100 words per minute. Hitoshi could understand them if he tried hard enough, after all he had lived with his papa for over 10 years, and he wasn't Denki's high school best friend for nothing, but he concentrated on the food instead.
Hopefully, they would forget about his existence and leave him alone… which did work for a really good amount of time! And it would have, if it hadn't been for his precious little sister.
"So when are you and Hitoshi going to start dating?"
That 10 year old is going to be the end of him one of these days.
"Eri!"
He could feel his face burning, how could she just ask that!? Especially after he just told her that wasn't the case.
"What!?"
Eri turned to him, pouting. Hitoshi got closer to her, eyes wide.
"What do you think you are doing!?" Hitoshi hissed, pulling his sister toward him and turning both away from the rest.
"I'm helping!" Eri whispered back loudly
"Don't! Just don't help!"
Hitoshi gave one last glare at her sister and turned around, going back to helping his papa.
Unfortunately, the previous conversation that Denki and Hizashi were having subsided and the room was now full of silent awkwardness.
"Umm… How's UA?"
Denki broke the ice, turning to his former teachers.
"Full of reckless teenagers, like always."
Shouta answered, annoyed.
"Aww teach! I'm sure that there is no class that will ever give you more headaches than us!"
Denki threw finger guns again, completely unaware of how cringe it was or perhaps he just didn't care. He has long lost his fear of Shouta's scary aura, after all he did spend a lot of time with them while hanging out with Hitoshi.
Shouta sighed
"I suppose that's true. I've never had as many problem children as you all."
Denki gave a radiant smile and continued to talk with Hitoshi's dad. Although he slowed down a bit, he was still going on really quickly.
Hitoshi couldn't help but stare in awe at how easily Denki was able to erase the awkward mood. The way he could continue to smile filled Hitoshi's heart with warmth.
He didn't notice the small smile that formed on his lips. When Denki made eye contact with him, he gave him one of those beautiful smiles that appeared to shine. Hitoshi gave Denki a big smile back, or at least he tried, but he was sure he failed when Denki burst out laughing.
Hitoshi laughed back and for a moment, just a moment, it felt like they were the only ones there. Like the whole world was just theirs, he wondered briefly if perhaps Denki felt the same-
but for now, he could only laugh.________________________
