Time skip to the next week (P.S it was the weekend when all that happened)

El was sitting on her bed re-reading her favorite book of all time when she heard the door bang, she jumped up standing up to see who it was.
"Will? Is that you?" She asked carefully walking to the living room
"Um, no it's Hop." Hopper said, while El let out a breath of relief
"Oh hi. How was work today?" The brunet asks
"It was...hard, how was your da- wait why are you home? It's only 2." Hopper asked checking the time on his phone.
"Um..." El said scratching the back of her neck
"El... Why aren't you at school?" Hopper calmly asked again
"I needed a day off... It's been really hard and-and I wasn't thinking right. I'm sorry..." She rambled
"It's fine kid. Will told me about you and Mark breaking up or something and that's tough...I think? You should probably talk to Joyce about that stuff. Anyway my point is it's fine, but you better go to school tomorrow. No buts." Hopper said with a small smile
El smiled beaming
"Thanks for understanding Hop and yes, you know how much I hate skipping school." El said as Hop pulled her in for a short hug
"I know kid, I know." Hop sighed, "I have to make a call, but Joyce said she's cooking tonight so you can go read."
"Ok- wait how did you kn-" El begun
"Please...that's practically your hobby now go." He waved her off taking out his phone again
"Okay..." El said rolling her eyes and walking back to her room and went back to her reading

The Next Day
"Hey El!" Her bestfriend went running to her indulging her in a big hug
"Hi Max." She said while being squished by the red head
"Why weren't you at school yesterday? Were you sick? Were you hurt? Did someone hurt you? Because if they did just say the word and I'll-" Max ranted just to be cut of by El
"OKAY! CALM DOWN! I'm fine, no I wasn't sick or hurt. I just needed a break." El said
"Oh okay. Well I missed you." Max said with a pouty face
El giggled returning the comment to the red head while the boys ran over
"EL!" Dustin yelled hugging her
"Hi Dusty." She smiled widely
Lucas, Will and Mike just stood there waving to her
"Hi Lucas, Will and Mike." She said smiling sweetly at the boys
"Hey." They said in unison just as the bell rang and they headed to their assigned classes

At The Lockers
El was getting her stuff from her locker while Will waited for her
"Oh crap!" She whisper shouted when she dropped her books
"Hey, let me help, babe." She heard someone say
Her eyes widened when she realized it was Mark
"Here." Mark said handing to her the pen
"Thanks." She mumbled while closing her locker and trying to walk away
"Oh so what! I don't get a goodbye kiss now!? Come on Ellie." He yelled
El cringed at the nickname hating the way it sounded from him
she spun on her heels and said, "No Mark, we broke up, remember?"
"OH COME ON! YOU BELIVED THAT CRAP!? I WAS MAD! IT MEANT NOTHING!" He yelled stepping closer
"Yea, well I did." She said calmly looking him in the eyes
"SO WHAT? NOW YOU WANNA BREAK UP!?" Mark yelled backing her up
"YES! YES I DO!" She said raising her voice for the first time
He backed her into the lockers grabbing her hand and squeezing it hard
"No...no you don't. You love me. And you are NEVER going to say things like this. LIES LIKE THIS!" He yelled in her face
"OHHHHHHH THATS SO INJUDICIOUS!" She yelled knowing he had no idea what it meant
"OH SHUT UP AND KISS ME!" He yelled leaning in
"NO! NO! WILL! WILL PLEASE HELP! HELP! ANYONE HEL-" She said before Mark put his hand over her mouth
Muffled screams
Tears forming in her eyes
Losing breath
She felt horrible, She felt pain...
"HEY! LET HER GO! NOW!" She heard someone practically growl
Mike
He pulled Mark off of her and punched him so hard Mark fell back and ran off
"Are you ok?" He asked in a gentle voice
"Kinda...I'm a little bit better. You know?" She joked, he chuckled helping her go out to Will
"OH MY GODNESS! FINALLY! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! I'VE BEEN WAITIG FOR LIKE- hey, are you okay?" He yelled until he saw her current state
"Yea, lets talk on the way home. I wanna take a bath and sleep." She answered weakly saying a quick 'thank you' to Mike and entering Will's car
She told him everything and tried to calm him down when he went ballistic which he did eventually.
Then she took a bath and slept like she promised, knowing very well that she'd wake up at 5 am, but that was okay with her since she had homework to do anyway
