a year later
It was a warm summer evening, Changbin was finishing up the last details before Riley would appear. He was at her flat, on her balcony to be more precise.
There he had decorated a small table with a single lit candle and a rose. Riley and Changbin had been watching a show together where a table like this one played a rather big role- so Changbin thought it was a nice setup.
"I'm home! Were are you?" Riley suddenly announced and Changbin panicked before quickly going over to his girlfriend.
"Hey, I just wanted to surprise you with dinner princess" He softly kissed her and helped her out of her jacket which made Riley both blush and look at him teasingly.
"Close your eyes" Changbin whispered and lead Riley onto the balcony.
"Oh my god, Changbin. This is beautiful! What did I do to deserve this?" Riley had loosely wrapped her arms around Changbin's neck and looked at him with loving eyes.
"I just wanted to spoil my amazing girlfriend who deserves every single bit of it"
They kissed again, just as slowly, enjoying the moment."Let's serve dinner now shall we?"
Being the gentleman he is, Changbin pulled back Riley's chair for her and then took his seat on the opposite.
They talked -or rather flirted-, held eye contact -or rather love-struck stared at each other-, held hands as far as possible -or rather having to stay in physical contact the whole time- and ate of course but mostly the above.
"Princess, do you remember how I wanted to ask you something before we broke up?" Changbin suddenly asked.
For some this question might sound weird but over the past year the two learned that their break-up was a part of their story and now they could openly talk about it and everything that lead up to it.
Riley shook her head, not being able to recall much from that day or the days before except for her being anxious and emotional.
"Well, now I got the chance to ask you so I'll do that" Changbin said, becoming visibly more nervous by each second.
Riley looked really confused but when Changbin grabbed her hands and started talking, she didn't think about it anymore.
"When I first met you - I didn't know it then - but it was something like love at first sight. I don't really believe in that but I knew that I wanted to get to know you and look at us now. I mean we had our ups and downs but if it means being with you in this exact moment, I would do it all again."
Changbin stopped shortly to pull out a small box and go down on one knee. By now Riley had gotten the hang of what was happening and a single tear rolled down her cheek.
"So, Riley, my princess, do you want to marry me?"
Riley kneeled down in front of Changbin and pulled him into a kiss that sent both of them stumbling further onto the ground.
"Should I take that as a yes?" Changbin asked and wiped away Riley's tears.
"Yes! Of course I want to marry you. I love you so much" Riley fell against Changbin's chest as she cried out of happiness. The latter only pushed her away slightly to put the small, shining ring on her finger.
The ring had been laying around for way to long and Changbin decided that it looked way better on Riley's finger than inside a box.
"We are going to get married!" Riley whispered and Changbin kissed her forehead lovingly.
