a few years later
Riley was standing in the kitchen preparing a meal. Tonight Changbin would come back home after a
two-months tour and Riley was excited.Changbin had moved into Riley's flat after their marriage but a year ago they moved into a small house in a rather secluded part of Seoul.
They were happy and content there. Straykids continued to be successful international and the McEvery company also expanded over the years.
You could say they has everything they wanted. Well not quite everything but soon they would.
Riley looked at the photo gallery in their hallway and felt a nostalgic feeling wash over her.
A look at the clock showed her that Changbin could arrive any minute now so she hurried back into the kitchen to get everything for setting the table.
Just when everything was ready Riley heard the bell and shortly after the jiggle of keys.
"I'm home, princess!" Changbin called out and Riley leaned on the doorframe to grin at him.
When Changbin looked up he saw his wife standing there and was quite confused as to why she hadn't already greeted him.
"Don't I get a proper greeting? The press didn't follow me if that's what you're worried about"
The public knew about their marriage and the uproar had died down by now. Just from time to time the press became annoying or someone spoke to Riley mentioning Changbin.
Riley has by now walked over to her husband and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"We're glad to have you back" Riley murmured, pressing their lips together in a loving kiss.
Even at the ages of 29 and 30 they were still so in love and happy to have found their way together.
"We? Oh right, where is my little Oscar?" Changbin called out, letting go of Riley.
Oscar was their puppy, just about a year old. They were in the park when they had found him, well actually they didn't find him. A small boy called Oscar did but his parents said they couldn't keep the dog.
So Riley and Changbin took the small puppy to the vet and called him Oscar in honor of his saviour.
Said little puppy came running down the stairs when he heard his dad call out for him.
"Yeah hello my little boy. How have you been?" Changbin asked, cuddling the puppy while his voice immediately turned a few octaves higher.
"He's been good but he missed his dad" Riley crouched down next to them and kissed Changbin's cheek.
"Dinner is ready, how about you go sit down at the table and I get it?"
"Let me help you" Changbin argued but was dismissed by Riley who said that he deserved some rest.
Riley went to the kitchen and got both prepared plates. Just as she entered the dining room she heard Changbin say: "Why is it set up for three people? Are we expecting a guest?"
"Nope, I just thought we should get used to it" Riley shrugged and placed down the plates.
"What do you mean by 'get used to it' ?" Changbin looked up confused as Riley sat down.
"Get used to having a third person sitting at our table. In a few months this seat will be permanently occupied."
"Riley?"
Changbin asked, tears already gathering in his eyes as he grabbed her hand.
"Are you, are you pregnant?"
Riley just nodded her head, tears of her own streaming down her face.
Changbin immediately stood up and pulled Riley up into a hug, crying into her shoulder.
"Really?"
"Yeah, really. Changbin we are going to be parents!" She wiped away Changbin's tears but was stopped by the latter pulling her into a passionate kiss.
"You can't believe how happy I am right now. We have always talked about having a family together and now we will!" Even though Changbin still had tears running down his face he smiled brightly from ear to ear.
"How far along are you? For how long have you known?" Changbin rambled, pulling Riley closer by her waist in the process.
"Well, about two months now you genius. And I have only known for sure about two weeks ago but I didn't want to tell you over the phone"
"Well I'm glad you haven't been pregnant for less than two months" Changbin teased and earned a slap on his chest in response.
"Let's eat now, the food is getting cold" Riley reminded.
"We really are going to have a family" Changbin said happily and as if he was agreeing, Oscar barked shortly and wiggled his tail.
Yes, now they truly were a family.
