love is not enough

they say love is all you need
love is patient, love is kind
tell me then, why love bore heavy sighs and red eyes
shaking knuckles hosting twelve phone calls
why love involved disownment- i know that knife twisted deep
but love laughed it off 'cause it's happened before
and love cured all, not with forgiveness
but forgetfulness
love is anxious and upset
love is quick to anger
love ages not like fine wine
but a sour prune
trying to hold on to the vine
but the sun all too strong, love only grows
puckered and dry
love is all we have
