It had been a long and tiring practice session due to there being some issues with the car but I still had to stand and do my PR duties for Mclaren. I wasn't a fan of doing media duties as there was always a chance that I would say something I wasn't meant to.
"So Lando, what do you think that Lewis Hamiltons and Mercedes's chances are of winning this weekend?" the Reporter asked.
"Erm, I think that Uncle Lewis has a great chance of winning this weekend," I replied and as soon as I spoke, I knew I had fucked up, I clapped a hand over my mouth.
"Uncle Lewis," The Reporter said in disbelief.
"Erm... it's just...well, I have an uncle called Lewis, so it's just a force of habit," I replied quickly, a little too quickly and the Reporter seemed to take my answer and not delve even deeper.
Thankfully I managed to get through the rest of my PR duties without any other mishaps. As I was finishing my media duties, I could feel my phone vibrating away in my pocket and I knew who was messaging me.
Uncle Lewis: What happened????
Uncle Lewis: You nearly gave us away
Uncle Lewis: I think we're safe for now
Uncle Lewis: Although the other drivers might realise something is up
Lando: I'm sorry 😞
Lando: It just slipped out as I was soo tired
Uncle Lewis: Ah, don't worry about it
Uncle Lewis: Maybe you should just call me Lewis from now on, to try and avoid any more mishaps
Lando: Okay Lewis
Lando: My phone is being blown up by the other drivers
Uncle Lewis: Not surprised 😑
Uncle Lewis: I'd blow your phone up as well if I heard you refer to another driver as Uncle
Lando: I'm gonna answer the messages now
Lando: What should I say
Uncle Lewis: Just tell them what u told the media
Uncle Lewis: Also, my phone is being blown up rn as well
Lando: Good luck
I exited my chat with Unc... NO, Lewis and decided to wait a bit before I answered any other messages. I put my slip-up down to how tired I was but I knew it was only a matter of time before people connected the dots.
