"Oh, but do you remember the time we rode horses into the castle with father? Reeves was furious!" You and Amirah both started laughing at the memory, and you took a sip of your drink. The pair of you had been sitting in the dining hall for the past while with your coffee, enjoying telling stories to each other from your childhood. "He was always so strict. Even in his youth."
"Good morning, mother!" Zelda smiled as she walked into the dining hall, and you and your sister both looked up and waved to her. She was holding something in her hands, and she rushed over to Amirah's side and set two letters down in front of her. "Read them!"
"Dear Queen Zelda," Amirah began as she opened one, noticing it had already been opened once. "I recently talked to Mipha and Link, and we've decided to come by the castle for a visit! Hope it won't ruin the surprise of us comin' for your birthday, but we thought it'd be nice!" She smiled as she set the letter down, and she reached for the other one. "What's this one?"
"That one's just from Mipha." Zelda said, and Amirah still took it from the envelope and read over it anyway. "Isn't this exciting? They're going to stay for two days, and they'll get to see _____!"
"It's too bad Urbosa won't be here to see them. But then again, Revali isn't either." Amirah huffed, folding the letters again before she set them down on the table. "It will make the reunion more special, anyway. If we can get your bird-brain boyfriend out here."
"He's just being stubborn Revali. Trust me, I've been married to him for eight years." You laughed, and she chuckled. "Do those three even know that I'm here?" You asked, pointing to the letters as Zelda picked them up again.
"I may have mentioned it when I wrote to them before we left for the Yiga Clan." Amirah leaned her head against her hand, and you felt relieved that they at least knew. "But they don't know all of the story. Just that there was a time traveling guardian involved."
"They're going to be here in just an hour, so you two best get ready!" Zelda beamed, and Amirah nodded and rose from her chair before reaching out for your hand. "Meet me in the Sanctum. I'll be there with father." She hurried off eagerly, and Amirah led you out of the dining hall and up the walkway to the upper layer of the castle.
"I'm so happy everyone is going to get to see you before you go. And you'll get to meet Link!" She clasped her hands together with a bright smile, but then she paused and added, "Well, he'll get to meet you, anyway."
"I forgot he won't know me. The boy's been practically attached to my hip for the past few months, and here I am in another timeline where he's only heard of me in legend." You sighed, and after you thought you looked up to your sister. "Am I a legend here?"
"Yes, you are a bit of a legend here. Considering you're one of two Scroll Wielders to exist in the history of this kingdom."
"Awesome." You smiled proudly, and she laughed softly and shook her head.
"I'm sure Link will be happy to meet you. You were one of the figures he looked up to throughout his training as a young knight. I'm not surprised you're his mentor back in your world."
"And proud to be it. It's an honor getting to train the hero of Hyrule." You smiled when you thought of the hero back home; a smart, courageous boy. But also a goofy teenager. And for the first time since you left, you wondered how he was with you being gone. He was worried about taking on one day of handling the schedule without you. And now you disappeared for an entire week.
Finally, you and Amirah reached your rooms, and you parted so you could each get changed into more appropriate clothing for visitors. You found a nice tunic to wear with some tan trousers, and after sliding on your boots and tying your hair up, you were ready to head back out. You stood waiting in the hall for a couple minutes for your sister, but she didn't come out of her room.
