BEYONCÉ KNOWLES
I had been looking for apartments for Onika before this last argument happened, but now I was in contact with a realtor.
She doesn't know I'm doing it but I know her price range because I already know how much she pays for rent now, I don't think she would mind at all.
The realtor sent me a couple apartments for rent by her school and the first thing I did was open the email to look at the apartments.
My kids were in bed with me and I don't know how, but they wake up minutes after I do every time.
Blue was the first to wake up. She was sleeping to my right and the twins were to my left. They were all cuddling up to me so I wasn't surprised that me sitting up and moving to get my laptop woke them up.
She rubbed her eyes and sat up against my headboard the same way I was doing. "Morning mama."
Something about kids morning breath has an extra punch to it. Maybe it's all the candy.
"Morning baby." I looked away from my laptop and kissed her forehead. "How did you sleep?"
"I like it when we can sleep here with you. I had a fun dream about being at the beach."
They would sleep in my bed every night if I let them. I'm a single woman, I need to be alone in bed every once in a while.
"It's been a long time since we've been on a vacation, huh?" I needed one, I've had a stressful couple months.
"Yeah. We should go back on that boat, but daddy has to come."
That's the main reason why we haven't been on a family vacation. Our divorce has made things complicated and I don't want to ever argue in front of our kids, but I don't know if I would be able to stop myself.
"You know me and your dad have had a difference of opinions recently." Blue is older and very mature for her age, I don't feel like I need to keep things from her when I could just make it more kid friendly for her.
"You guys never even argue."
"I'll talk about it with him." It's a discussion Shawn and I could have, even though the answer would probably be no.
Rumi and Sir started to wake up at the same time. It was almost creepy, they had the exact same body movements and rubbed their eyes at the same time.
Rumi gave me a hug the second she fully woke up. She's the hugger, I wasn't surprised when she hugged Onika after she saw her crying. Sir is his dads clone, he won't hug anybody but me and my mom without being forced.
Rumi mumbled, "We're gonna live in a apartment?"
I forgot I still had the apartments open on my laptop. "Nope. This is for a friend."
My tv turned on and I looked over at Sir who had the remote in his hand. This was going to become loud, very fast. They were all awake and they were going to bounce off each others energies until they drove me crazy.
"Which friend? Aunt Kelly?" My kids are nosy. As hell.
"Yeah." I didn't want to bring Onika up to them more than I had to. They already had questions about her after she left.
I think Blue is suspicious. She asked me why she slept over here twice and how I knew her.
Either way, I was going to lie my ass off. They can't hold water. First my mama will know, then my ex, then all their teachers. I'm good.
They watched cartoons for about an hour which gave me some time to narrow down the choice of apartments but they eventually got hungry. I made them all go brush their teeth in their bathrooms and went to do the same myself.
