The first week of school was stressful to say the least.

The kids were pretentious, bratty, and spoiled know-it-alls. I was a private magnet school, so I knew it was just apart of the job working at a school so nice.

Despite a few distractions, teaching was fun. I loved being able to teach what I loved with advanced technology and materials. All the kids had their own laptops and I was even given an iPad to make teaching easier. There was an application where I would just write on the Macbook and it would appear on the screen up front for the kids.

Not only was that great, but there was food in the teachers lounge every day. It was such a small but meaningful gesture, and as someone who usually forgot to eat in the morning, it came in handy. There was a full breakfast spread on the first day and then we had things like donuts and smaller stuff from there.

By Thursday, I understood why they had three day weekends. There was so much information to go through in the three days I was lecturing that it felt like two weeks in one.

For the lab, we didn't do any actual chemistry. We just went over how they should be taking notes in their lab notebook and I let them work on measurement. They had to record the weight of beakers, liquid, and other substances.

It was fun to them because it wasn't any actual work and I got everybody lab coats that we decorated on the first day of class so they felt like real chemists. I also had fun just going around helping everybody.

After my last lab of the day, I still had another period before the actual school day was over and we had our meeting so I went to the office.

I waved at the receptionist, Ms.Jackson, once I walked into the office. "Hi Mrs.Jackson. Is Keke in?"

I met her on my first day when I came to see Keke, she was an older woman so I called her Miss out of respect. She was nice but not a big talker, but I caught her gossiping with the other office people so I knew she was messy.

"Hey honey, yes she's in. Let me just ask her if she's busy." She picked up her desk phone and pressed a few buttons. "Ms.Palmer, Ms.Maraj is here to see you. Okay, sending her right in."

I smiled and walked past her desk and to Kekes office. She knew I was coming so I didn't bother knocking and just walked right in.

She was sitting at her desk with her glasses on and her laptop open in front of her. "Hey girl. Done for the day?"

"Yeah, I was bored." I sat down on her desk and lowered her laptop screen slowly so she wouldn't be tempted to do work.

She chuckled and looked at me over her glasses. "We can act like I didn't see that, I guess. Are you coming to the bar tonight?"

"Yeah, I need a drink badly." I was surprisingly excited. A couple of the staff members I already met mentioned it and honestly, I needed to get out of the house. Badly.

"You and me both. I might just tell the bartender to give me the whole bottle and not worry about doing shots."

I laughed, "Oh no." That was definitely a sign for how the night was going to go.

Keke started to go on about how she was so excited until there was a knock at the door. I turned around as the door was opening and Principal Knowles was walking in holding a brown paper bag. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had anybody else in here."

She was wearing a burgundy pantsuit with a black button up under. She always wore suits perfectly tailored to her body in different colors, it was a staple. I liked it.
