An Ode to Eyes

Back then, she loved to gaze into people's eyes,
To decipher their souls with transparent guise,
She'd see the tiredness after a long day,
Or joy from cherished memories on display.

She'd try to unravel their experiences,
Through dark circles, and all their appearances,
She tried to understand what setbacks they face,
And empathize with them, in a warm embrace.

It felt unearthly, to glimpse into their life,
Through their eyes, she could feel their strife,
It pained her to sense their exhaustion,
But still, she thought their eyes were a thing of perfection.

Despite the natural flaws, she'd observe people many times,
And wondered if others would reciprocate the signs,
Would they feel her soul, by staring at her eyes so green,
That were shaped like a leaf, in a wondrous scene.
