After being named by Rimuru-sama, he continued to work gathering intelligence.
Although weaker, younger and more inexperienced, Souei was a great co-worker and boss. His way to overwork the subordinates was better than Testarossa's. Souei even cared for his subordinates in his own way!
There was another plus when doing jobs for Souei: Moss got opportunities to report directly to Rimuru-sama. Normally, Testarossa wouldn't do that.
One of those days. Moss got an opportunity to report straight to his lord. A little moment of happiness.
Moss got into the room and started his report. Diablo and Shion were silently listening behind Rimuru-sama. Shuna was waiting next the door. Souei was behind him.
"I see... Thank you for your hard work" Rimuru-sama praised him.
Between hearing the praising himself and hearing from others how Rimuru-sama was pleased from their work, there was a difference as wide as sky and earth.
"I am thankful for your kind wor...ds?" Moss answered appropriately, but he couldn't finish. He felt something on his head.
"Ah! I... just felt like it. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable" (Rimuru)
"No... it's fine..." Moss answered mechanically, but it took a while for him to process what had just happened.
Rimuru-sama patted his head. It seems he had done it unconsciously, as he soon withdrew his hand and apologized.
What a shame.
Had Moss reacted faster, would Rimuru-sama have patted him for longer?
Moss recuperated in a few seconds thanks to <Thought acceleration>. He then scouted his surroundings.
Diablo was making a killer face. Upon closer look, he was tearing a little. Obviously jealous.
Shion was jealous too. Enough to jump over Rimuru-sama
"Rimuru-sama! I have been doing a good job too"
"Whoa! Shion? What are you doing?"
Fortunately, Rimuru-sama was dense in the weirdest parts, so Shion didn't get a head pat.
Shuna was surprised at first, but soon returned to her usual business smile. Upon closer look, she had a scary aura around her.
Souei was having fun. Moss heard him letting a small chuckle. Souei mostly understood what was going on and found it amusing.
Soon after the report ended, he was called by Testarossa.
Moss arrived at a garden, where the three primordials were drinking tea, with their assistants serving them.
"Moss, did you finish reporting to Rimuru-sama?" (Testarossa)
"Yes, Testarossa-sama" (Moss)
"I heard you were praised" Testarossa's gaze turned menacing.
It was just as Moss suspected. Diablo must have complained to Testarossa, who called for Moss to complain.
"Yes. Rimuru-sama complimented my well-done work and patted my head" Moss answered nonchalantly
The demoness stared at Moss.
